Could 3121 be the return to form we've all been waiting for? The prmotion for this next project is looking huge!! Multiple TV appearences, WORLD tour, TV specials, videos, singles, advertisments, banners etc...
Let's just hope the music lives up to our xpectaions. The 3 thing i willbe looking out for are... -Funk -Rock -Controversy and... -PRINCE

Nope...huge promotion does not equate to "return to form". Just means that he's actually gonna try and generate sales for whatever he's putting out this time, instead of insisting that he doesn't care.
3121 could indeed turn out to be a stellar CD...but the amount of promotion won't be an indication that it is.

it could be, but chances are it won't be. Besides, I have found that "return", likened to the protical child, varies greatly between sectors of you "fans", and thus a 'return' can never be.
I for one will be happy to hear what is up with his new tunes. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

If the first single is an indication it will be his worst album ever.

Emancipation had huge promotion...resulted in a pretty good three-CD set, but little more (or, if you prefer, one amazing CD spread out over three discs with too much filler in between).
That Te Amo Corleone or whatever is a nice little song...but not exactly the type of song that generates excitement and anticipation.

I rather enjoy TAC...It's the perfect jam 4 those lazy weekends!
Still I would love Prince 2 go raw Funk

All I got to say about this "return to form" nonsense is this:
I ain't takin' no mo' of this bunk! Ya'll triflin' if you think this is gonna be a return to form. He ain't never left the form in the first place! Where ya'll been? In some 1984 time warp o' sumthin? Like, um, hello? This be too-double-oh-six, yo! Gets a mufunkin' grip, a'ight?

i agree with alot that has been said ABOVE ... i TOO have to add that the first single is sooooo unmoving that it scares me ...
the 3121 vibe was so "partyatmosphere" that ... the first single IS NOT ... but with Prince --- you gotta just enjoy the ride ...

It surely won't be, if we do another hype-generating thread like this.
Besides, THIS PROMOTION LIST IS NOT CONFIRMED YET! AND WE ARE DEALING WITH PRINCE HERE! EVEN THE RELEASE OF THE ALBUM ITSELF CAN BE QESTIONABLE ANY MINUTE!

If "Te Amo Corazon" and the concert recording of "Black Sweat" I heard not so long ago are anything to go by, "3121" will be a goodbye to Prince from me. We shall see though, and my mind remains open until I hear the album.

I would partially agree with lovemachine. Just from listening to the Te Amo Corazon single, I believe 3121 is going to be a different album from what Musicology was. I mean, Te Amo Corazon was pretty average for me because it had a somewhat flat production and the lyrics were kind of uninspired. 3121 is going to be a mere experiment than an amazing album. Maybe when Black Sweat comes out, my mind will change or it will just be another disappointment. Check me out and add me on:

I agree with Byron - no amount of cash thrown at the mass media will change how a record sounds.

You can say everyhting about TAC but but the production is everyhting but flat. The production is superb. better than anyhting on Musicology. Il n'y a pas de sentiment plus exaltant que celui d'appartenir à une nation si diverse, si libre et si douée pour le bonheur.

Give TAC a break. The only problem I have with it is that Salma Hayek was not
IN THE VIDEO. I'm very about 3121 CALL ME A DREAMER 2!

In fact, I'd say it's one of the worst songs on Emancipation (let's hope that's the case with Te Amo Corazon)!

IMO, the "beauty" of Emancipation is that nobody will ever agree on which track should be on this "one amazing CD"...

Personally, I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking with 3121. I think it's going to be an album with lots of guest artists and different styles - similar to Rave I guess (conceptually, not musically). But that's cool. It should be a fun album. OMG, what if he did pull it at the eleventh hour? Universal probably has a clause in the agreement assuring he can't back out like that. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I don't have any expectations.
1- it's the best way to get happily surprised 2- You're talking about Prince's music, for G's sake !!! How do you dare taking bets on the genius productions ? Can you do better ? Do you know anybody that can ? I know I'll discover in what mood is Prince lately, and if he's touring in Europe, I'll be satisfied. If I win a Wonka-Tonka Ticket, it will be heaven.

The only half-way interesting albums Prince has released in the last 10 years are those that haven't been aimed at the pop market - Rainbow Kiddies, Xcruciate (or whatever it was called), and NEWS.
3121 is clearly aimed at the pop market, ipso facto, it will suck. Indeed, I would go further and say that, based on the first single, it's going suck so hard that New Power Soul will begin to look like a work of genius. "Don't hate me cos I'm beautiful"
