Pussy Control was just one of many missed commercial hit opportunities in the 93-95 period.
It's funny, at the time, I don't remember seeing as that big of a deal, but I still hear people (non-fans) commenting on it.

Prince sounded awkward enough saying "Answer me motherfucker!!!!" in Purple Rain. There really are some curse words he just can't pull off. Funny I had a friend who said she hated dirty words in music except for when Prince sang em...cuz he made em sexy. Christian Zombie Vampires

And for the record..I think it's a great song....a great opener too. It always gets the folks dancing. ANd only Prince could write a song about...heck even named pussy control so he gets kudos for that. Christian Zombie Vampires

I also think that "pussy Control" is one of those songs that can be used as a barometer for Prince fans. It illustrates the division between those fans who don't like Prince mixing with rap fans who got on board earlier and those who got hip to Prince via "Diamonds and Pearls" and don't mind it at all. "New Power slide...."

One of Prince's most impressive songs, and the funniest. His ironic turn on woman's rights is awesome. This song shows who the real Prince fans are, compared to the fams. All you others say Hell Yea!!

When I first heard it, I tought it was sick, but eventually I really got into that sickness. I love it! "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

You really need to put the crack pipe down. iwasthinkinitbutsupasaiditedit I LOVE this song, I love the empowerment...have you listened to the lyrics? about 2 years ago my daughter was on the bus coming home from school and there was a girl on the bus saying I heard this great new song wanna hear it, she put her headphones on my daughters ears and it was P control. My daughter said dang your mom a prince fan and the girl said yeah how'd ya know? she said yeah mine too! this is our theme song, my mom makes me recite the lyrics We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. I became a Prince fan when 1999 was released so I qualify as getting on board earlyish but yet I really really really like Pussy Control so you better invent a new category for old Prince fans who like the new stuff too.

It's funny. At first I hated P Control, then I loved it, and now I've gotten tired of it again.
It's good, but it's probably made worse by the fact that so many superior songs were left off the album (Days of Wild, Interactive). The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

you deserve a medal. it's funny, as an instumental it would rate (for me) as 100% proof thart Prince hadn't lost his nasty genius... but the lyics and (c)rapping all over the mic just proves how badly he now needs a producer bitch slapping him in the studio. on the subject. prince needs to call rick rubin. quick.

TheBigBang said: It's the song that, IMO, scarred The Gold Experience. And I think he added it with that intention, kind of a FU to WB. That's what I think.
The lyrics are mysteriously absent from the liner notes of the album, as well. I know a Prince scholar can debunk my belief, I'm sure. But as much as I like the song, and I do like the song, it's a shame that I can't just play the album in a public area, or around family, without immediately skipping to track 2. that was an independent release, not thru WB, tho. Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

It's a song that most of Prince's female fans like more then the guys. I remember being at the clubs when the God album was out, And whenever they would play that song, All the women on the dance floor would sing in unison, "AWWWWW IT'S THE PUSSY CONTROL".
c'mon, that didn't really happen did it? you've been drinking purple kool aid again, and got a bit carried away, haven't you..?. it's ok. the mods will hopefully lock and delete this thread and no-one needs mention it..... cool?
