Your thoughts on the song 'Pussy Control...'

I think it's pretty cool.

Is it just me or does Prince sound a lot like snoop dogg near the end? biggrin

Please discuss...
Only the $$$ can make me happy...Unless you think otherwise baby!

I think it's one of THEE weakest songs in his catalogue.

Prince sounded awkward enough saying "Answer me motherfucker!!!!" in Purple Rain. There really are some curse words he just can't pull off. evillol

Prince can't say "muthafucker" right? confuse
You better not listen to any 1994 aftershows then.

it's hilarious to sing out loud in public, though...yes, i've actually walked down the street with friends doing the "aaaaawwwwwh!" bit in the past.

ohhh, the looks we got from passers-by...goodtimes. touched

It's the song that, IMO, scarred The Gold Experience. And I think he added it with that intention, kind of a FU to WB. That's what I think.

The lyrics are mysteriously absent from the liner notes of the album, as well. I know a Prince scholar can debunk my belief, I'm sure. But as much as I like the song, and I do like the song, it's a shame that I can't just play the album in a public area, or around family, without immediately skipping to track 2.

"Play that muthafuckin' bass" - sounds genuine as opposed to "And the da moral of dis muthafucka is..." - which sounds contrived and phony.

Even when he says "No black motherfuckers in the house"... the humorous intent is there. But when Prince dons his "lemme cuss/use slang right here for street credibility" coat, I cringe. You know what I'm talking about.. don't make me go through those 95-99 era songs and pull out those songs he ruined with that kind o'shit lol

i love it. one of my favorite symbol-era songs. it's one of the rare times when his fake slangy posturing worked in his favor, whether the results were intentional or not. i think it's part freaky and part campy - just a stoopid fun dance song by prince. nothing wrong with that.

I think it could have been replaced by other greats (days of wild or acknowlege me just to name a few). The song will get the dance floor packed (with women) HOLLA PRIME
Prime aka The Kid

"I need u to dance, I need u to strip
I need u to shake Ur lil' ass n hips
I need u to grind like Ur working for tips
And give me what I need while we listen to PRINCE"

This song is great! The music is great the words are great.

This is a real feminist anthem. If you listen to what he is saying he is really letting women know that they have all the power and to be in charge of their sexuality. wink

Normally, I am not one for Prince rapping, but I LOVE this song. He pulls off the rapping in the song. I loved hearing in the clubs for years after it came out too.

Yep. I have this remix of this song..it is really cool. I love this part when a woman is singing..."I don't care what you been told pussy's got you in control!" lol

Right on. When I see men walk all over women I think about that line to myself and think "God if they just knew their power!" LOL.

Prince is definatly a man who gets it. No wonder he has so many female friends!

Pussy Control:

A decent enough rap/hip hop attempt and a club anthem/classic-whether I like it or not.

The song is pretty good, but I agree that it is peppered with a lot of unnecessary swearing, "Good evening ladies and gentleman, boys and muthafucking girls, this is yo captain with no name speakin and I am here to rock your world" and "You need a motherfucker that respects yo name, now say it Pussy Control". The language is imitation gangsta thanks to Snoopp and Nate Dogg and Tupac etc. They were fine at their art, but Prince wasnt and it sounds amateur. Very funny though.
Unfortunately Princes 80s work was trendsetting, but his 90s work was trend following. Theres very little originality in it. A lot of groups went through a big fuck phase in the 1991-95 period eg Blood Sex Sugar Magik is all fuck, mother fucker and the Radiohead song "so fucken special" Alanis Morisette "R u thinking of me when u fuck her" and even Peral Jam refer to Jeremy as a harmless little fuck.

Fortunately the novelty of swearing has worn off and now its limited back to Gangsta rap.
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I think it's one of the funniest songs Prince has ever written. I remember LMAO when I first heard it. It's a song that most of Prince's female fans like more then the guys. I remember being at the clubs when the God album was out, And whenever they would play that song, All the women on the dance floor would sing in unison, "AWWWWW IT'S THE PUSSY CONTROL".
