They - Universal/Prince - pulled it back. There was a discussion about it on NPGMC.

I know it sound greedy to wish they were out today, but I really think having the new single digitally released today would have been a wise decision.
Being that after the SNL performance its likely that people will hear it and go to find it online, and its not there...by the time Tuesday arrives, It's likely to be forgotten about. I really think pushing the digital download back a week will hurt a percentage of those sales. | |

An easy out for that problem would be for either NPGMC or Universal to post something on their sites stating that a sneak preview of things to come would be televised on SNL, with a release of music on the following Tuesday, to keep people interested.
