I'm probably gonna do a horrible job of explaining this but I know and have read that you should not stop the flow of energy in your life and I feel that by hogging up all this great material (bootleg videos, songs, etc) and stopping the flow of it, Prince is hurting himself. Now because my account is disabled I have to reupload all the other non-Prince stuff I uploaded....like Sananda Maitreya (aka TTD)...Now THERE is an artist that understands the power of the internet!!!!! I was a big fan of Prince for a long time and then somewhere around the late 90's I really stopped being a fan because he was releasing so much wack music and doing so many idiotic things (both musical and non-musical)....I had become a hardcore fan once again in the last 6-8 months but with this "Te Amo Corazon" b.s. and now this jackass move I'm starting to lose my interest again....If "3121" ends up being a piece of crap (and it wouldn't surprise me) I think once again Prince will be relegated to the back of my playlist. I'll always admire the Prince of old but in many ways I have just had it with this guy! Sorry for the rant but this shit really pissed me off! ----- You knew it was bootlegged material and you realize that there was a chance that this was going to happen. It is unfortunate but this stuff is not official it is Prince 's music and his image and the ultimate decision is up to him. I appreciated you putting it up and we all enjoyed it. | |

So, who is actually crazier? Some person with a certain not-so-nice habit (Prince sending around those C&D letters whenever it comes to bootleg) or people who know the behaviour of that person, just ignore his habit, think they get away with it and are totally pissed when they realize they don't?

i'm so slow it always happens that i miss all of the good stuff waaaay after folks have already seen and downloaded and now it's gone. But anyway, I sort of agree with emilio319 only because i was a huge fan back in the day and have always been a big fan but never a bootleg fan. I missed sooooo much material from Prince that i feel sort of left out now. I mean, i bought all the cd's straight from the stores, recorded the videos off of BET and MTV but now that i am old as dirt, can't find a darn video. NOT A ONE. So it would be nice to see Prince footage that you missed out on because you lost it or cuz shoot, it's PRINCE!

I think YOU'RE kind of missing the point it to be honest, especially if your main is argument is simply to be more sneaky ("clandestine") about it. I never saw a lot of those clips and was elated that I had the chance to. Am I selfish in some way? I can't get past the idea that shit like this does Prince more harm than good, and is in the end much ado about nothing from his end. If he's as business savvy and as smart as he seems, he can use this hunger for rare material to his advantage. Although I agree with you that of course he has THE RIGHT to deal with his material as he pleases, that doesn't preclude me from questioning the wisdom of his decisions - or from wondering why he'd want to deny his most ardent and loyal fans nothing less than the opportunity to appreciate his art. The Grateful Dead used to set up soundboards so fans could trade recordings of shows. They had exactly ONE top-ten hit, yet were consistently among the highest grossing concert tours for over 25 years, and undeniably claimed the most loyal fan base in music over this time. Yet their FANS still bought their records in droves. I'll gladly fork over my hard-earned dough to Prince for gems like the stuff emilio offered up (for free) whenever Prince decides he wants some money for the stuff.
