Found/rediscovered my Prince 33 1/3rds, it's a beautiful thing!! Looking through an unpacked box of my records and found some of old Prince albums. This is perhaps telling my age but when Prince first hit the scene he was only available in album form. I found Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Controversy, 1999 and a 45 promo for Purple Rain.
It is a beautiful thing!! Do you own any 33 1/3rds and if so which ones?? pvtjoy

The 'Around The World In A Day' vinyl album package is one of the most beautiful Prince products ever. I wish I still had my vinyl copy.

pvtjoy[/quote] Boy, I bought my first CD player in 1995. Up to then, I just bought everything on vinyl. I guess I have a pretty neat vinyl collection ...

Pvtjoy,
Is it me, or was the experience of buying a new album somehow better when they were vinyl? I remember actually riding home on my bike with the Around The World In A Day vinyl album (I was 13!!). Parade was the last album I had on vinyl - the only vinyls I bought were 12" singles. I still have the 12" vinyls, but only Purple Rain on LP still.

It's not you JimmyNothing. Albums were so much fun! What would the cover look like? Would they include a poster? Exciting! Now, the cover work is so small and if you get a poster it has to be folded so small the creases ruin the pic!
I'm firmly planted in denial

Jimmy, You rode your bike to the local wreck-a-sto and I rode Stacey and Adam(my feet) to Tillman's records. It was quite a thrill because the vinyl left much more room for expression. Damn, I need a turntable.

I was without a turntable for years. @ years ago, I finally bought one again and stayed home listening to my vinyl, and I HAD A BLAST.
I have many 12 inches on vinyl as well as Purple Rain, ATWIAD, 1999, For You and SOTT. I treasure them all!

I have everything on vinyl from "For You" on, including the twelve-inches, except for the "Mountains" twelve-inch.
That includes the original "Soft and Wet" 45 RPM. The thing is, I never bought a single one of these for collecting's sake; I just wanted the music.

I didn't collect the albums on vinyl, but I've kept all my 12" vinyls from Let's Work right through to the D&P period. Some of them are picture disc's with incredible art work and it's got to be my most treasured collection.

Vinyl - smelt better, looked better (that nest rose in the middle of Purple Rain - I always loved that!), sounded better (except for the occasional crap pressing). Just better! Everyone knows that - right?
