I REALLY don't like ANY song on this album.

I don't hate it because it's still Prince but I just think every track is bland and soulless.

It's so saccharine and artificial. It sounds like Prince is creating this whole vibe that is false and insincere.

Where's his voice gone ??? It's just flat and heartless to me.
Shut up already, damn.

I tried playing Rock 'N' Roll Love Letter by the Bay City Rollers between Graffiti Bridge & New Power Generation Pt. II (just to mix things up a bit)....
not a good idea.

I split the album into 2 seperate albums a long while back, and I must admit
I tend to listen to these more than the album as it stands. I basically
seperated it into a 'Prince' album (which I called 'New Power Generation')
and a various artists soundtrack album (called 'Graffiti Bridge'). They're
both 'vinyl style' 9 track CDs...

New Power Generation

1. Can't Stop This Feeling I Got
2. We Can Funk
3. The Question Of U
4. Elephants & Flowers
5. Joy In Repetition
6. Thieves In The Temple
7. Tick Tick Bang
8. Still Would Stand All Time
9. New Power Generation

Did you have Elephants & Flowers seque into Joy In Repetition? eek

No, I removed any segueing, and restored the complete outro to We can Funk
and restored the intro (without crowd noise) onto Joy In Repetition. Also,
New Power Generation is the complete parts 1 & 2 version, and Thieves In
The Temple is the original extended version. I also sequenced it as if it
were a vinyl album, with each 'side' clocking in at about 23 and a half
minutes (and the whole thing being just under 47 minutes long).
Here's the tracklist again with timings...

side 1:
1. Can't Stop This Feeling I Got (4:25)
2. We Can Funk (5:47)
3. The Question Of U (4:00)
4. Elephants & Flowers (3:54)
5. Joy In Repetition (5:18)
side 2:
6. Thieves In The Temple (8:06)
7. Tick, Tick, Bang (3:31)
8. Still Would Stand All Time (5:23)
9. New Power Generation (6:33)

I did make an earlier version which still included the horrible released
segue between We Can Funk and Joy In Repetition.

1. Can't Stop This Feeling I Got (4:25)
2. New Power Generation (5:55)
3. The Question Of U (4:00)
4. We Can Funk (5:28)
5. Joy In Repetition (4:53)
6. Elephants & Flowers (3:54)
7. Tick, Tick, Bang (3:31)
8. Thieves In The Temple (8:06)
9. Still Would Stand All Time (5:53)

Coincidentally, i listened to GB yesterday, and was kindof pleasantly surpised. Ofcourse nothing beats the Question of you (shouldn't THAT have been a single?), but i actually also enjoyed 'release it'.

I can't stand round and round.. i simply HAVE to skip it. If there's any song the P-catalogue can do without, it's that song (IMHO).

Then there's 'we can funk' and 'joy in repetition' which are instant classics.

Actually, here's hoping that 3121 will be as good as Graffity Bridge.. there's at least half a dozen very good tunes on it, which is more than can be said about musicology (even though there are some decent songs on that album as well, but not quite in the same league).

There should definitely have been more 'Prince' singles released from
Graffiti Bridge. Only have 2 didn't really help the album much

He should have released "The Question Of U" and "Elephants & Flowers"
as singles as well. (in fact The Question Of U was originally going to be
the lead single until he wrote Thieves In The Temple).

I should try this.
Then I could put all the other "stuff" on another CD.
Truth be told I've never liked NPG.
But I love WCF, TQOU, JIR, TTB, basically all the P tunes.
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

How about adding "The Grand Progression"?

I've always heard this was a tight track that got cut.

I love love love The Grand Progression. Kinda mellow but good. The key changes are very cool.

Also add the original or "outtake" of Tick Tick Bang.

No "Question of U"? For shame!

yeah, I also love New power generation and the lastest fashion.

Its too disjointed. I like your idea about erasing the songs u don't like and embellishing the gaps with other songs of similar vintage. However I cant stand the add ons, but I realise every orger will end up with a different CD. My GB CD has
Cant stop, NPG, We can Funk, Release it, Joy in Repetition, Still would stand all time, thieves, love machine, round and round and Graffiti Bridge only, shorter than Dirty Mind almost.
I agree this album would have been a lot better either by
1. Minus the filler
2. Filler on side 2, decent songs on side one, but thats subjective now... biggrin
