MJ fans often buy into their idol's "childlike" bit and tend to be, like him, extremely sensitive. If you criticize MJ, some of them act like you kicked a puppy.

I actually went to Michael's trial a few days..even went in court. For me, I wanted to go for two reasons:

1)To support my favorite singer/entertainer whom I believe was being wrongfully put through hell by an evil DA.

2)Because I worried that Michael might go to jail, and I didn't think he would have survived that, so I wanted to know, if that did happen, I got to see him before it, with my own two eyes. It kind of depressed me, to think a man who has done so much with me through his music, his dancing and just his being, I had never even seen with my own two eyes, only through pictures and video cameras filtered to my TV.

While I was there, yes there were some nutty fans, I am not going to lie. However, most of the people I had the pleasure of meeting were really nice. The media only liked to show the 'crazies" to make Michael look worse.

I normally get pissed when people blame the "media" for stuff, but this isn't a cop out. Sorry. I was there.

Hey it takes all kinds 2 make the world go round....

There are some Elvis fans that are crazy as hell. All the "Elvis sightings", the plates with pictures of Elvis on them, the Elvis impersonators, etc. Some of these people swear that Elvis is still alive and faked his death.

A lot of Tupac fans are crazy as hell too. Like Elvis fans, many of them swear he's alive because albums have come out after his death. Well duh...ever heard of unreleased material that was recorded years earlier? So many of them think he was an absolute musical genius, yet his music consisted of samples (someone's else's music) over a midtempo beat and he never sang a note. This is supposed to be a musical genius though. If you say one negative thing about him, they will cuss you out in the same low class thug manner that the man lived his life. Actually some of his fans are crazier than Elvis fans because the man glorified violence and so many of them eat that shit up. Just watch, one of them will probably come in spouting off and raising hell any minute now.

I used to get into playful arguements with co-workers every day of the trial because I defended Michael, and everyone else I worked with thought that he was guilty.( I'm a police officer, so believe me, everyoneI worked with thought he was guilty. ) They used to call me crazy and tell me that I should become a defense attorney. But in the end, I got the last laugh. I went around he department yelling "Not guilty" to everyone.

I think it's nice that you were there for him during the most trying time of his life.

I think that every successful artist/movie/book/tv show has a section of fans who love their particular thing at an unhealthy level. That's why comic book conventions are so popular. Prince and MJ (both being huge stars globally for over 20 year) each have their share of scary fans. Hell, I consider myself a hardcore Prince freak, but I ain't dressing like him and flying across the globe to MPLS to cry at the Excel when he plays "Purple Rain".
