LoL..that could be, too...although he'd be playing everyone else's "instrument"... 8) Does it not seem that way at times... "figure of speech". [This message was edited Wed Jul 3 13:56:13 PDT 2002 by Freespirit]

Prince says that piano is his most "natural" instrument -- and I love to hear him play it -- but his guitar slinging really blows up my skirt!!!

Good question. I think that he is a great guitar player who plays the plays the piano very well. I am also very impressed with his bass playing but would like to hear him play it more in concert. This was the one thing missing from the L.A. ONA shows.

FlyingCloudPassenger, how could I forget about the Linn drum! You are absolutely right, the things he has done using that particular drummachine are just incredible.
The Linn drum is my all-time favorite drummachine and Prince is the user who got the most out of it... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

One answer according to his studio engineer:
Drums. | |

If he's anything like me there's only one instrument worth playing with.

Prince always kept people guessing with that instrument, it's sound so organic yet so tight, like a real good drummer. If you listen to all his very best songs, they have the Linn! What !!! That is big news to me !! Im goona take another listen. I know he played everything on his first (2) albums, but not Madhouse. I thought Sheila E played all of the instruments on all of the Madhouse stuff. Thanks for the info. !!

the guitarist? hate to nit-pick on speling errors, but is this one of those times that details matter. I can't bring myself to express all the delights this comment by PFunkjazz is providing me.

Which instrument?
Hmmm... when that sexy mutha sits at that piano, it's off the chain. It seems to consume him and in turn it consumes me, especially on the one-nite alone tour when he did how come you don't call me anymore. Lord have mercy!!

PopcornFetus said: His guitar playing is very good, but he doesn't really have his own style. His piano playing is really amazing and stylistically cool, too (his hands look doublejointed + a TON of chordal information in a single song) but I think he is best at the bass. He really has his own slapping style and it's mind blowing. Listen to the bass part for the instrumental outtake Climax from 1984 if you have it. It's non-stop craziness for a non-solo bass part. I can only think of one better in the slap dept.
I have to disagree with the guitar bit. I think Prince has a very distintive guitar sound, where you can tell it's him. Bass is kickin' too. (G-SPOT)... Piano is #2... cracknbush

A male Melvoin was on skins 4 Madhouse, not P (i don't remember his name) It is Prince. That was known for quite some time and I guess when Eric Leeds said at the celebration that he and Prince recorded the first Madhouse alone at Prince's house in 3 days, then we can take it for granted.
