What if....................? Vanity had never left Prince, and co-starred with him in Purple Rain, instead of Apollonia?
What if... St. Paul Peterson had never left the Family? What if... The Original Morris Day and the Time had stayed together? What if... Wendy and Lisa had never left, and the Revolution had stayed together? Just some questions to ponder, if you think they're stupid, sorry. This just came to me.  ***************************************************

What if...
Prince were 20 yrs. younger? What if... Nobody liked him? What if... Purple Rain and Warner Bro.s were nonexistant? We all ponder! -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

I think if Vanity would have been in Purple Rain Prince would have been more graphic. But probably the lake scene wouldn't have been such an Impact since Appolonia's TaTas kinda made a splash. I also think it would have been better with Vanity and Prince but Appolonia definitely Worked it's just that she was a little too Clean or sophisticated looking she didn't seem to be the Perfect Match so to Speak. If St.Paul never left the Family well who knows how many other albums they'd have done since Prince wrote the songs. If the Time stayed together Utter Delight. If Wendy and Lisa didn't leave he'd be POP again and not Funk/Jazz/Blues. In my Opinion would this have been better than what he's doing or where he's at now? Absolutely not! | |

***Vanity would have been so much better than Apollonia in 'Purple Rain'.I've seen other movies with Vanity in it,and she's actually a pretty good actress.Plus,it's obvious that Prince was really in love with Vanity and their chemistry would have been explosive on film!
***If St.Paul had never left The Family,I'm sure they would have done at least one other album.But I doubt that the group would have lasted very long.Most Prince proteges' moved on after an album or two. ***If Morris Day and The Time had stayed together,there probably would have been no Family.I think they would have grown bigger and bigger,with more mainstream success.By the time they reunited in 1990 for 'Pandemonium',the magic was gone and their time had passed.But if they had stayed together in the first place,they would have been HUGE! ***Unfortunately,I think if Wendy and Lisa had stayed,Prince's music would not have grown the way it did after they left.He would never have been able to explore more complex jazz and hardcore funk styles,not to mention hip-hop.I like W&L and the Revolution,but I consider them more of a "pop" band,while subsequent Prince bands were more funk/R&B/jazz. | |

DavidEye I disagree on the W&L point. Yes The Revolution could be considered a "pop" band but W&Ls output these days (scant though it is) has much more depth to it than "pop". I think W&L and P together would have developed in a different way to the way that P has on his own but I dont think he would have remained "pop" - I think they are all too interested in different musical forms for that to have been the case | |

The song Darling Nikki would have made more sense within the context of the movie. The sex scenes would have been a little freakier. We wouldn't have to hear that stupid Appolonia line "And you, what do you dream of" What if... St. Paul Peterson had never left the Family? They could have opened for Prince on some of the Parade tour but there probably wouldn't have been another album. What if... The Original Morris Day and the Time had stayed together? They would have done a couple tours without Prince and then broke up What if... Wendy and Lisa had never left, and the Revolution had stayed together? The SOTT tour and concert movie would have sucked. The Lovesexy album and tour would have never happened. so what another edit. There are some footage that Vanity did do for the movie. She posed for Playboy which violated her contract with WB. Appolonia looked more like Vanity then others that tried out for the part. You have to find a replacement at the last minute. God had his back. Though Patty's skills were not up to par. Vanity was way gone into here drug thing. Not showing up at all. You can and will be replaced.No one is unreplacable. sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time. | |
