Which Arsineo preformance did you prefer?

The 1991 preformance where he preformed "Cream", "Daddy Pop" ect...or the 1993 preformance where he preformed "My name is.." and "Blue Light" and such....?

Even thought the godess Mayte rocked during the '93 tune and my girl demonstrated her coin flipping I think the 1991 preformance was way better!!!!

Omg the choreography in Daddy Pop is very humorous and cute and how he changed up Cream was so cool too! I miss that era..when I became a die hard Prince fan and every new video preformance was so EXCITING!!!! wink

i just remember that one dance move where it looked like tony m. was having butt sex with prince...i remembered thinking that probably wasn't exactly the most prudent choreography for a heterosexual male pop star with androgyny issues. and tony m. should have been the bottom.

The 1st one in 1991 for 2 reasons:

1. it was his 1st time doin' that sort of thing

2. It wasn't all off of 1 album.
"New Power slide...."

mmmm I always try to answer this question in my head and even till today I can't answer this question . The whole show on prince singing around 4 songs per show. To bad Arsenio hall went off the air. Who knows Arsenio could have done a whole show on all of princes albums from come-3121 (man that would of been sweet).

Prince didn't have "androgny issues." Prince has always been a revolutionary when it comes to gender roles and societies expectations. His whole career has been about pushing those buttons and examining masculinity/femininity. All you have to do is look at the symbol or listen to his lyrics (Uptown) about freeing yourself from societal norms.

P.S. Even straight people have...gasp..."butt sex."

Has the Prince community gotten more conservative?

1. my post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek - a fact which i think most other people probably grasped, though i'm sorry it obviously eluded your humor radar.

2. you don't have to lecture me on prince's role as a "revolutionary", nor do you have to school me in pop culture genderfuck. trust me. i know a thing or two about it.

3. straight people may have "butt sex", but when you have it with someone of your own gender, it ceases to be heterosexual butt sex. you cannot argue this point.

all fun and humor aside (in other words, i'll speak your language) - those dance moves were fun, though given prince's taste for bravado and machismo, especially at that time, it seemed unusual that he allowed some of those moves to go into the choreography, as they were pretty blatantly homoerotic...even moreso than, say, bowie fellating his bandmate's guitar.

Alright, Alright don't get so testy. I wouldn't call Andrew Dice Clay "tongue in cheek" but maybe I did read your post incorrectly. Plus, no lecturing intended, but why can't gay people exhibit both "maschismo" masculine and bravado characteristics. Prince's earlier image is blatantly homoerotic and "machismo." Prince has always flirted with his assumed bisexuality and our views of sexuality and gender. How many people did you know back in the day that did not believe that Prince was gay/bisexual? Only recently has his reborn JW status tempered his "homoeroticism" iconography. It has also coincided with a hyper-masculine hip-hop marketplace dominance.

I loved his live version of Cream. I think this performance was on TV before Diamonds and Pearls was released and I remember being disappointed in the album version compared to the live version.

And yeah, that move where Tony M. grabbed his hips while Prince did butt pushups toward his crotch was pretty gay.
