Lisa and Wendy couldn't even begin to compete with Prince's current band. Eric Leeds is also one of the best who has worked with Prince.
The band now is the best and Prince is at the top of his form.

Good Question ruled...not so much.

Tough question b/c people like Maceo and George Clinton have had their success outside of Prince but obviously worked with him extensively, esp Maceo.

As for a musician who has been employed by Prince?:
Eric Leeds on brass, John Blackwell on drums, Miko on guitar.

well, for a lot of people (prince included) Wendy and Lisa can create such beautiful colors and emotions that their *technical* skills are irrelevant.

im not going to argue that any one band (current or in the past) are better then Wendy and Lisa...thats a rather childish way of appreciating art...Sounds like people are back in the playground squaking that; "my father is better then yours"...it gets nobody anywhere...

i just appreciate what sounds good to *my* ears...get it? got it? good!!

He never got the credit due, but Mike Scott was by far the best guitar player that Prince ever employed. I saw him take down Prince in a guitar dual at Paisley Park once.

Well, contrary to what most of the white and/or european Prince fans want to claim, Wendy and Lisa are not the best musicians that Prince played so I wont bring them up. Dr Fink was a better keyboardist than Lisa ever was and damn near all of Prince's guitarists were better than Wendy. There is no way Wendy beats Dez Dickerson or even Miko Weaver not to mention Mike Scott and Kat Dyson.

The best drummer is John Blackwell.

The best guitarist was Dez Dickerson.

The best bass player (not counting Larry Graham) had to be Sonny T with Brownmark coming a close second. Levi is in there somewhere ae well.

The best percussion is Sheila E (close second to John on drums)

The best keys is Dr Fink and Morris Hayes (he is very underrated but easily the funkiest keys for Prince)

The best vocals are Rosie Gaines - hands down

All this is the way itt is...

...cause FACE said so!!!

Oh yeah, the best brass is Eric Leeds - yeah Maceo, Candy, and Najee are good but Eric is the Paisley Park horn sound and can actually swing when it comes to real jazz.

You evidently were not at Xenophobis last week. Mike Scott is good but he wishes he had chops like Prince displayed on "electric guitar" night on the celebration. When it is bootlegged, do your self a favor and seek it out...and make sure to wera your asbestos headphones!

In a way, I feel they r an extension of the musical genius that is Prince, so many similar elements of sound and arrangement R there, although if one listens to WandL's complete body of work, they've established an unmistakable sound of their own as well...on works for other artists too.

If you don't already know it wouldn't be worth trying to explain it to you. It's like people like this slept through 1984-1987, very funny.

people it comes down to this: prince has been a one-man-band for almost his whole career. to get his music across live he had to get a real band to play the instruments he normally played on his own. wendy and lisa were one of the people prince worked with in one of the many bands that have ASSISTED him through the years. the only difference is prince commercially peaked in the 'revolution' period. so when prince became a star, wendy & lisa, as most striking bandmembers at that time, became stars aswell. as wendy & lisa put it: "prince was the cook and we were the spice." which i interpret as prince creating most of the songs by himself and wendy & lisa adding their vocals, instrumentation and showmanship, when bringing the songs to the stage.

can you relate?

Susan Rogers in an interview a few years back, "Wendy and Lisa thought of things in the studio that Prince never would have dreamed of." Sounds like some pretty damn good spices to me and from someone who was THERE. And I hope no one gets me wrong because I don't think it was ALL because of Wendy and Lisa, because Prince is a musical genius. They just brought out colors in his music that it didn't have before. The new band IMO, is probably the best band as a whole that he's ever had, and hey, the whole right side of the stage is empty when the horns aren't out there, why not add Wendy and Lisa to that?? smile And before someone even dares to say they couldn't keep up they could hold their own JUST FINE.

Can YOU relate???

I understand it. I don't agree with it.

A guy by the name of Miles Davis, and a current drummer named John Blackwell.

Of course i left out my fav and all time best prince band member: Dr Fink.
I'm not sure Prince would've been so funky live without Dr Fink.

I Respect all the People that Worked with Prince but If I had to pick One it would be: Jesse Johnson easily.the Guy wasn't even a Funk Cat or had Groove before He came to play with The Time.when I listen to His Work in the Studio&Live He was a victim of bad timing because He had the Goods.I say the same with St.Paul Peterson.when I see Remy,Jon B,&Dino before them I Know St.Paul could smoke them.I think Andre,Sonny,Dez,Pepe Willie,Jam&Lewis&Jesse,Eric,Fink&Wendy&Lisa truly Challenged Prince the most IMHO.

Well, maybe "The Europeans" do so, because we saw W & L live in the late 80ies/early 90ies?
