Camille album

I am sure a lot of people know about this but I found this in archives while doing research. I know old school Prince fans would have loved to see this come out!

Camille

Side A:
“Rebirth Of The Flesh”
“Housequake”
“Strange Relationship”
“Feel U Up.”

Side B:
“Shockadelica”
“Good Love”
“If I Was Your Girlfriend”
“Rockhard In A Funky Place.”

Paisley Park/WB 9-25522-1
January 13, 1987

There was mention of a single to be released: "Housequake" b/w "Scarlet Pussy"

Cool...I was just wondering about this last night--I wanted to make my own Camille album and couldn't remember the track list.

cool
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

definitely was planned but in those days, Prince delivered new albums like a mailman delivers junk mail (except that Prince's albums were great).

I don't think the b-side was Scarlet Pussy, it was Shockadelica (from memory).

This is probably one of my most played playlists. It's just a funky combination!

I don't know if the world would have been ready for it back then.
Ooh, little darlin' if you're

This album would have been great - I'd still love NPGMC to make it available as a download with downloadable artwork, but that will never happen for a variety of well-known reasons. We have all the tracks in crystal clear quality except Rebirth Of The Flesh, which was only officially released as a rehearsal version (in the club's first year).

Yeah, Prince's career would have faired better if he'd released these songs/this lp in late '85 (when first recorded) and just sat on the Around... lp.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Hes right, Scarlet pussy was recorded in 1988 as a Camille one off, shame he didnt make more, I think Camille would have been a seller if properly marketed, its better than this Te Amo shit we get now.

'86.

Camille came after both ATWIAD and Parade, that would've been a long time to sit.

The Camille cover was all black and had a stick figure on it. I'll post it if I ever find it again.

I think he was asking about the supposed Ballad of Dorothy Parker 12" cover. But the Camille cover you described is a fan-made cover, there are several.

Any genuine Camille artwork has yet to surface.

as I said "there was mention," nothing in the WB archives, just something someone told me but the track list is for sure. I love your sense of sarcasm.

Tangerine17, let the people at Rhino know that if the want another successful album re-issue, the Camille album would be it.
I think its safe to say that everyone here on the org and Prince fans in general would all buy a copy as it was originally intended, and bring a whole lot of youngsters as new fans.
All the songs on that album aged mighty fine.

Fans need to concentrate on UNRELEASED
tracks. We can all make our own Camille CD in satisfactory quality.

Could WB do a remastered release of this? With the exception of the first track, WB released all the other tracks, so they own the masters, right? So they could slip something else in for the first track (say, 'Scarlet Pussy') and release it as some kind of a collection?

(though, since it appears WB still wants to work w/Prince, this obviously wouldn't happen)...

I'd love to see this!!! I made my own Camille, but it's pretty weak as it contains condensed versions of some really great songs. I have "Feel U Up (Long Stroke)" but only on cassette. I have "Shockadelica" (the longer version that contains "Shockadelica is a feeling...") but it's only on vinyl. My Camille contains the crappy edits from The Hits/The B-Sides. I'd love to have this CD as it was intendended, in all its unedited glory! (And though I fully appreciate the copy I have now, I'd love a clean, pristine sounding "Rebirth of the Flesh!")

Edited for improvement (as opposed to editing a Prince song...)
