The transfer isn't crappy. It's lovely widescreen loveliness. I don't care about much else, and these supposed outtakes were scrapped for a reason, so I don't mind.

Fantastic, DVD has revitalised the home cinema industry. I wonder if anyone is familiar with the 'Bluray' project? This is the latest development from the same conglomeration of companies who were responsible for innovating the DVD. Bluray equipment will increase storage capacity tenfold, merely through the use of a blue laser. In laymans terms, the beam is more focused and so more data can be read off a single disc.

I would love to have ALL of the Prince movies/compilation videos on DVD, since that is the way technology is going. It would be great to be able to have them in the new format so that we could watch them. I wonder, in light of Prince's much publicized problems with Warner Brothers, if this will ever happen? I hope so!

Which region are we talking about here? Certainly not region 1 as it not in widescreen! I also have the region 4 release which IS in the correct 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio BUT the transfer is sooo bad - all dark and grainy. Trust me - DVD's should look MUCH better than this...

Circuit City has the Purple Rain DVD for $9.99...or at least it DID a month ago...check 4 yourself.
