Sometimes there will only be one musical performance by a guest on SNL, but its rare... usually two.

And I have to agree... Seems like Te Amo has already fizzled... letitgo Prince... ROCK OUT!!

It's common for songs to work much better live than on a CD. Don't sell TAC out just yet.

It's not about loving EVERYTHING Prince does. It's about not acting like babies when we don't.
All this fuss and we don't even know if he's gonna do Te Amo on the show. Many a writer have been known to screw up the facts when it comes to Prince. Personally, I'm rooting for "Avalanche". lol

Prince performed "Electric Chair' from his Batman soundtrack in 1990 on Saturday Night Live, everyone forget about that? NBC must be desperate for ratings.

Prince to Return to Saturday Night Live

By: Alyssa Rashbaum

January 23, 2006

Twenty-five years after his last appearance on the show, Prince is returning to Saturday Night Live.

With his latest album, 3121 slated for a March 21 release, Prince will promote the new album and it's debut single, "Te Amo Corazon," with a performance on the show on February 4.

Prince's appearance on the show that night will mark his first since 1981. Steve Martin will host.

That was an anniversary special, that aired in prime-time. The last time Prince performed on Saturday Night Live, on Saturday Night, at 11:30-1:00am ET was in 1981. That is if that was what time it came on. I wouldn't know, I was born 4 years after

I think we are jumping the gun here. If Prince wants to do the song, he'll do the song, whether we like it or not. Plus, this is Prince we're talking about here. Most of his songs sound better live than on album so let's see what he'll do with TAC if he performs it. And someone said it earlier, I'm interested in seeing who's in his band now.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Apparently you did too! He performed "Electric Chair" on an NBC primetime special called "Saturday Night Live 15th Anniversary" which aired September 24, 1989 - a Sunday.

serioulsy you people are pathetic in many ways...

Here is the deal

He WILL perform Te Amo Corazon because it is his first single off the CD (whether most of you dumbasses like it or not cause he sure does and its his music so he can do whatever he friggin feels like doing - you create something close to the "crap" that is Te Amo and we can talk)

He will also perform another song most likely Black Sweat because even though he performed only 1 song in 1981 all artists perform twice and he will follow in this tradition

Prince follows no one and has always ALWAYS shined doing live performances - all you whiny babies need to either find another artist to follow or shut the F up!
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

between these posts and your sig, i gotta wonder what music you DO like! lol

I'm a Prince fanatic and he's #1 on my list, but I like other stuff too, but one thing I don't like is this so-called crap of today that couldn't come up with their own music if their life depened on it.

As for Mazerati: You right, you do have a right to say that you don't like a Prince song I didn't say that. Just like I didn't care for The Greatest Romance, I was addressing that part about why doesn't he care that people don't want to hear that song. He already made it clear on the ONA tour: It's not about what you know, it's about what you're willing to learn. I wanted to hear more old classics myself, but there are some fans who want to hear something new. Either way I wasn't disappointed.

This would actually be Prince's 3rd time on SNL. The 1981 Appearance. One in 1989 for promo of Batman, he sang Electric Chair and I believe BAtdance.

Wow! So much negativity on this site. Damn... Can't you just be happy that P is performing on national television? None of us "knows" what song(s) he might perform ~ it's all speculation at this point. Yes, there have been acts that have performed only one song (I forgot who it was, but it happened last year) and there have been bands that performed more than two songs (U2 - this season).

Regardless of how many or which songs he plays, appreciate the fact that he is performing. The man will rock your socks off... Is that so hard to comprehend?

true enough. though i'm sure whatever he does on SNL will have tons more presence, charisma and musicianship than just about anything else that hits that stage this season.

MMM I'm guessing it's have a cool sophistication and a mellow vibe. But yes, probably a better performance that anything SNL will see the rest of the year.

I like his cool as a cucumberness and all...but I do miss the nasty bitch grind he used to do.

- Well, I think he needs to do it, because it´s the first album single. If I could make a request about it, I would ask him to add something to it, like a great extended guitar solo or something like that. And play something funky too, if two songs are allowed.
