Because it contains a portion of "Jean-Pierre" by Miles Davis - I guess Prince didn't want to go through the expense of getting a license (or was turned down) to include this portion in the C-Note release. On the initial version (played on NPR) he either didn't realize, or it didn't matter for some reason.

I once downloaded a sabotage boot with the european soundchecks...Copenhagem was featured there in bad quality, but I don't recall the intro. (I deleted the boot because i didn't have HD space...)

It's the longer version that you heard on NPR which is on the Sabotage release. At the close of the European tour (2002), NPGMC briefly made available this longer version of Copenhagen to at least some Danish NPGMC members by way of an email link. The link was only available for a very short period (a matter of hours). I enquired at NPGMC and was informed that it was purely 'an experiment', and the track might be available at a later date - no promises. Then, the C-NOTE release rolled out at the beginning of 2003, but with Copenhagen edited to exclude 'Jean Pierre', as Booyah has explained. The C-NOTE release originally happened by NPGMC members being sent (over a short time period) a link to one of the five tracks - . Members were advised that the link would only be available for a limited period and requested not to share the link. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
