Two New Live Albums by Prince

One Nite Alone Live/It ain't over

were played at Paisley Park (Studio B) during the Celebration 2002. The first CD contains live material from serveral 'One Nite Alone' shows in 2002. "It ain't over" is a collection of various songs from current aftershow performances.

What did you see? Actual cd's with artwork? Or just demo's.
Heard anything about releasing it?

Thanks.

If they would be released, either via the regular stores or via NPGMC, that would be great. Only the fact that they are no complete shows but compilations is a pitty. I prefer to hear a show from beginning till end instead of half shows. But then again, if it happens we finally have a live release, so I am not complaining lol !

the DOW single is from Montreal, studio B was playing Xenophobia from DC...i wasnt aware the ONA live was a compilation though...i only heard him say DC during one song... but i guess i didnt play too much attention.

he has 3 left to give us. and in the tour book theyre listed as:
prince's greatest hits
ONA
Xenophobia and
erm...
shit whats the 4th one? damn i forgot. but hey he can change his mind whenever right?

I believe the fourth one was listed as 'Last December' on the Xenophobia tour flyer.

Prince isn't smart enough 2 know 2 put out a live album.

I mean the live performances r what make non-fans and naysayers (Aaron) bow down 2 his Highness...so y not release a live album? Purple Rain doesnt really count.

Imagine a alive album with great sound quality, and audience participation. Something like "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" only a whole album with better songs!

*sigh*...

Personally, I find that the live recordings don't do the band justice. There is so much energy in the room and that gets lost audio recordings. Maybe a live DVD (with better production than the Rave one) would be better? That way you see the band in action and if it's done right, you'll feel like you're right there...

I am absolutely NOT interested in EDITED live performances... which we know is how Prince will release them if he releases a live disc... overdubs are not acceptable on live recordings.

ALSO: I don't like the idea of "various songs from current aftershow performances" or "live material from several 'One nite alone' shows" either. Just put out an ENTIRE, UNEDITED show for the love of Saddam Hussein's moustache!!!

A retarded monkey on crack, heroin, LSD, PCP, mescaline, weed and alcohol could have done a better job of editing than whoever the amateur was who edited the "rave" DVD.

I challenge you to find a section any longer than 4 seconds without an edit or cut to another angle. The "Rave" DVD definitely has the absolute WORST editing I have ever seen... and I have seen some really bad editing in my time.

I would love to see a REAL live DVD without the mindless, frenetic editing... also, I would like an ENTIRE, UNEDITED concert... no overdubs, no interludes, no trying to cover anything up... just a real performance with no makeup.

Darn right. And how about limiting what is recorded to one or two cities? References to Cleveland, NYC, LA, Fort Worth, etc. all on the same disc can be dizzying & takes away any momentum that would be there from a single live recorded night.

Edited live shows are not live shows. Who needs that?

I guess Prince wants to use the perfomance of a song which he sees as the best. Unedited surely would be best, but I'd say I'd take any live recording he puts out.

I thought Prince was never going to release a live album because he believes there is no such thing the definitive live performance.

Prince's engineer told us that the DC show
would b released, but he didn't say in what
capacity. Prince also video recorded the last
4 or 5 nights of the celebration...i would pay
3 months wages 2 have those on DVD.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Yup... and we know that his best performance of DoW from the summer of '95 at Paisley Park was the version he chose for CB, right? WRONG!

I was talkign about this CD and this tour. Who knows, maybe he wrote himself a note after a certain performance or the audience reaction was more enthusiastic on certain songs in some citys than in others.

I know, my point is that I don't trust Prince's viewpoint. Hell, why did he feel the need to put the overdubs in the Montreal performance?!? Prince would be better off letting someone else choose which recordings he uses.

We all know the chances of that happening are very slim.
