ello Princlings,

i am setting up my house and i plan to display my fav Prince items, like vinyl collectibles, Prince's guitar pick he dropped in front of me after playing Gett Off, and a Purple Rain counter stand...Things like that...Any ideas? Just frame them and hang them you think?

My advice is less is more and only put the stuff in a basement or a den becasue otherwise its tacky.

I would love to see some pics of how you display your collection...

It seems such a shame to have awesome collectibles from over the years and not have them up to enjoy...

If ya have a big enough place I would have like one room and display stuff on walls and have standupsposters Etc. You could have a VCR/DVD playing his Videos. Like his NPG store in Minnie get some pillows for the floor....Use Candles...Light INCENSE.....Use Colored Lights and get one of those wild kinda Lamps Sign O The Times. I use to do all that. My Whole house was Purple and a Shrine somewhat with his Standups....LOl....Oh God, I'll end up doing that again....But ya gotta have Ambiance and all.

hey, i am not talking about a fanatic shrine i just have a geek room and i wanted to put a few of my fav items out...

I am not doing posters...

I have seen people put things in Plastic and hanging them on their walls. I'm gonna put some posters up tonite....

When I was much, much younger... (like 17)

I took one whole wall and hung my favorite albums and 12's (in protective plastic, of course) in 3 rows, surrounding a small-ish poster. Below that, I had my stereo with all my other cds, tapes, vinyl, etc in a classy looking record cabinet.

It's all in a little "room" without windows hmmmm .....- but in that way - the sunlight/heat could not touch my collection - so the covers, posters and the other stuff kept their coloures and quality.....

It was 92 D & P tour, Sydney Australia, 12 000 people...he played a screaming version of Gett Off and then played his solo right in front of me (4 feet away) and in the darkness and bright lights I saw him drop the guitar pick drop from his finger out of the corner of my eye and it landed on the edge of the stage so i politely asked the security guard to pass it to me, as I was the only one who saw it. So he gave it to me. It says LOVE GOD...Its my most loved Prince 'thing' other than the music, as it brings back a great memory.

You could buy those frames they have to put your albums in and display them as art... That's what I did w/ my purple rain album...

I love to see other peoples collections displayed in a nice way. I cleaned up my basement and made a small room for my self that I keep stuff in and have a back wall with P-posters on it and some tour badges on my desk. Good enough for me. I have a tv, shelf stereo, surround sound and a laptop down there for my enjoyment.

what does that mean? My favorite Prince collectible is his actual styrofoam coffee cup and plastic straw with his actual LIPSTICK PRINT ON IT! Yes ladies and gentleman, Prince does drink his coffee through a straw! As I seen it with my very own eyes and have that cup and the straw with his DNA and Lip Prints on it to prove it! And no I didn't kiss or lick it like some crazy fans would do--yuck that's just nasty! What if Prince has like bad breath or something! That is a major turn off, even coming from him !

That collection is happening, it rocks, I would though, just what I would do, so please no "I aint paintin my cabinets purple"
1. Paint your shelving units purple, maybe one with symbols on it.
2. Get the records on the floor or down low, up there, those discs, one earthquake, hurricane, tornado, purple boat arriving, whatever and theyre finished.
3. Put up all the posters ona wall opposite so they are visible, try and have these visible froom the door, so u r struck with Prince the moment u enter.
4. Candles and incense whilst ur in there, have a tuntable in there so Prince is always playing whilst ur in it. Paisley Park is like that
5. Put a good lock on the door, so no one can disturb u.
6. Put kinky ass oversized cushions and shit on the floor, with filmy throw fabrics and stuff.

I am sorry, its a shrine, but with that much stuff I would start a bloody cult there.
