Why does the Nude tour book claim P wrote Stand Back?

See? It appears that Prince himself thinks he wrote Stand Back.

It wasn't guitar but keyboards that Prince contributed... and since the keyboard pretty much carries the melody in that tune, the implication seems to be that he wrote the melody as well.

ASCAP shows "Stand Back" as co-written by Prince and Stevie Nicks. Even more suprising is that Controversy Music is the publisher.

So, though it might be a bit of a stretch to claim that "Stand Back" is a "Prince song", it does appear as if his contribution is more than just a guest appearance.

Snap

Stevie has stated many times that the melody is from "Little Red Corvette"
"Little Red Corvette..." -->> "Stand Back Stand Back..."
she wanted to give Prince co-writing credit for that
she invited him to perform on the song as well
he showed up, added the synth lines, and left

it kind of sounds like he programmed the whole beat, keyboards, music... and she sang on it.

publishing is more important than who wrote it... basicaly Prince owns it... and when it gets played prince get paid... even Stevie may have to pay prince to sing it.

I'm more interested that he finally takes credit for his contributions to The Time's songs. Weird how some are under Prince, but others are under Jaimie Starr. Schizo! smile

Well he'd be an idiot not to. But I don't recall him ever publicly acknowledging his songwriting role with them.
