...(possible) major reasons why Prince declined.

1) height, Michael would have towered over him. he doesn't like that.
2) Michael has some smooth moves, how would they compliment each other, spins?
3) Prince is a bit jealous, I read that in '88 he broadcast on TV in Europe 2 out-do Michael who was also touring at the time.
4) ....who would have come out as the baddest in the end of the video?

5) It would have looked completly ridiculous and Prince is smart enough to realise that.

Prince's ego is likely the main reason for Prince turning down the song.

When he works with other artists, it's usually on his terms, this would have been a song written and produced without his input.

Plus, can you imagine the video - it would've been like two drag queens, all eye-twitching powder-puff pouts and handbags at dawn.

Actually, I believe in the Chris Rock interview, he mentioned when he read the lyrics "Your Butt is Mine" and realized that Michael would be singing that to him, Prince said HELL NO.

Mike has put out some great, iconic music in his career...But "Bad' was simply the silliest, most ridiculous track he ever recorded...And the video was even worst..I would guess that this was the main reason Prince declined to collaborate with MJ at the time...

I've been a major MJ fan nearly all my life and i was quite surprised when I actually read that "Bad" was meant to be a duet with Prince.
It wud have been real cool.
But I don't think Prince has ever hated Mike out of jealousy or ego.
He even said he'd like to do a duet with MJ as long as it was "mono on mono" back on the radio in 2004...
