I'm Yours As far as I like his debut, I have to say that the song "I'm Yours" disturbs me. The song itself has some power (and potential), but this is - in my opinion - hidden behind a terrible sound /mix / whatever. There is simply too much reverb, I think. (It starts with the snare sound right at the beginning); I have the impression that all these reverb ruins the song, unfortunately. The voice is too far in the background, at least in certain places. After listening the song a few times through earphones and my soundmachine (I ain't got no high-end system, but the rest of for you sounds very much okay), and I still think that there is too much "dirt" or whatever you call it, in it.
Don't get me wrong, there are still elements in the song that I like (the refrain sticks in my mind right now, for example). Did u ever feel the same? I hope this is one of the things that MIGHT get fixed if we FINALLY GET a remastered edition (to this day, I'm dreaming of something they did with the Talking Heads catalogue)... That's exactly why I'm hoping that he'll re-record this one (well, apparentally he has, but we won't hear it of course).

Absolutely not. This is the song that established Prince as the greatest guitarist of our generation... a title he has yet to relinquish. Lovesexy Funkateer

it is not among PrinceĀ“s 20 best solos. Its almost a standart heavy metal playing. The riffs are cool but Prince did much better than that later till today.
And i liek the song the way it is, its is full of raw energy.

yeah the production's not that great
but it was the '70s, and they didn't have all the technology we have today and Prince did produce it himself (his first full album effort) when he was what 19 or 20? but apart from that, it's a kick-ass song!! [Edited 1/18/06 13:41pm]
