Prince and Kate Bush... "Why Should I Love You?" I just discovered it earlier this week. It reminds me alot of All My Dreams from the Dream Factory. You can tell their from the same era.
I dig this tune quite a bit. It's funny 'cause the lyrics don't make much sense... but it's a good ethereal jam. But it's funny, 'cause it's yet another one of those songs by Prince that could have been AWESOME... but falls just a bit short. The lyrics could have been deeper... more definitive... but it's always fun when you find a "gem" that you missed when it was first released. What are your opinions of this song? The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

I really like the song....and it got great reviews...every critic I read said it was one of the best moments of the album...
She had good company there....Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck play there too

great song.
I would never have thought that i would ever had said Prince and Lenny Henry's name in the same sentence. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

The reassurance in your rhythm speaks 2 me." -------------------------------------------------------- "I wanna hold U, wrap U up in lace. And I wanna kiss U, kiss U all over your face."

This song has been discussed many times on here, and I have to tell you you are wrong on various points.
All My Dreams was recorded '85-'86. Why Should I Love You was recorded around '91-'93 and released on Kate's 'The Red Shoes' album, so they are not from the same era at all. Prince did not write the song, Kate Bush did. Kate asked Prince to add backing vocals onto the existing track, but instead Prince re-recorded various parts for the song and sent it back. It was a bit of a muddle, and it took Kate a long time to re-edit it back to her liking. Prince is credited with guitar, keyboard and backing vocals for the track.

This chapter says
"Put it out of your mind" Mmm, give it time.... The fine purple The purest gold The red of the Sacred Heart The grey of a ghost The "L" of the lips are open To the "O" of the Host The "V" of the velvet Of all of the people in the world Why should I love you? There's just something 'bout you There's just something 'bout you Of all the people in the world Why should I love you? Have you ever seen a picture Of Jesus laughing? Mmm, do you think He had a beautiful smile? A smile that healed Of all the people in the world Why should I love you? There's just something 'bout you There's just something 'bout you Of all the people in the world Why should I love you? Of all the people in the world Why should I love you? The fine purple The purest gold The red of the Sacred Heart The grey of a ghost The "L" of the lips are open To the "O" of the Host The "V" of the velvet The "E" of my eye The eye in wonder The eye that sees The "I" that loves you Of all the people in the world Why should I love you? nice lyrics. Thanks for backing me up Muirdo! lol... But I did say they were from the same era... and maybe that's not true. But they do sound like they would be.
Love the tune... THe lyric "The I that loves you"... kinda reminiscent of "Love me for what I r." ... from 200 Balloons. (1989) This man has so much material to discuss, it's INSANE! The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Kind of interesting to compare with the lyrics to Pheromone: L is 4 lust O is 4 obsession V is 4 the vast way u envelop my soul This is crazy, this is crazy I could die from the pheromone Seemed like Prince sort of copied the idea from Kate!

[Edited 1/15/06 9:19am] Actually he said you could tell they were from the same era, which is not correct, since Prince didn't even write the song. [Edited 1/15/06 11:04am]

A reviewer said "it would fit on Parade" and it´s true IMO. And I have to agree with you...I thought it was written by Prince, but it´s a Kate song

Good point. I've never really listened to G-spot that much, but I see what you mean: "Prince G-spot lyrics" "F" is 4 frustration I'm looking 4 what isn't really there "I" is instigation I'm listening 2 the voice beneath my hair "N" is 4 the naked body And 4 what my naked eye can see CHORUS: G-spot, G-spot Where, oh where can U be? "A" is 4 America And 4 the things U read in magazines "L" is 4 location I am a clock, the time is 9:15 "L" is 4 the lust we share We want 2 know that infamous pleasure CHORUS "Y" is 4 my yearning I'm burning into mystery CHORUS G-spot {x3} Ooh yeah Yeah, yeah Oh, oh Lord
