No, it isn't a great message. It's a stupid thought. Of all the reasons to be vegitarian, that is the stupidiest, most vain reason of them all. If you must feel animals have 'souls' which I don't think is wrong, then you should accept the transendence of the soul. Being eaten by a higher member of the Animal Kingdom is the quickest way to achieve your karma as a lower animal so that you may trandsend. So Prince sings about hurting his animal kingdom buddies spiritual because he is so obsessesed with the phyical nature of things. Great Fucking Message Prince   News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop. | |

I absolutely love this song...and I couldn't care less about the lyrics...(I don't agree with a word he says in it, but it doesn't affect me anymore than songs I like where I can't even understand what is being sung---I just mumble along, scream out the title as if I know the whole song, and enjoy the music.)
There have been songs where I think the lyrics actually ENHANCED the song (Alexis De Paris and Venus De Milo, for example), but "bad" lyrics don't affect me if I like the music... Just my $.02 worth... "3123...that's next door to where the party be..." | |
