How to track your own Lovesexy CD??

I was just wondering if anybody knew how to track Lovesexy with their computer. I know some did it with the NPG radio show discs.

You need to extract the audio track and edit it into separate files with an audio editing program.

I have done mine in ProTools.

I am a Mac user, so I don't know much about PC software for audio, but I have heard of something called SoundForge that should do the trick.

I was wondering about that the other day. Record it into a wav file for something then split up the tracks into files then burn on to a 2nd CD.

This about the only program that I know of on Windows for audio editing...

I am sure that there are a lot more, but I am (as I mentioned earlier) a Macintosh guy and use ProTools.

I hope that this helps!

You can do it with Roxio's CD Writer as well.

I have Adaptec software to burn CD's and tracked LoveSexy with it. I put the CD in and hit the EXTRACT button. It allows you to put the splits anywhere you want and you can listen to where the breaks are before you extract it. It creates an MP3 file for you or any other type of music file you want. I have the exact breakpoints written down at home for it if anyone would like those. Adaptec allows the breakpoints to be set by typing in a time, or you can do it by bytes (I believe) or by listening to it play and clicking on a button to make the breakpoint.

Adaptec is now owned by Roxio so I'd expect the same functionality but I could be wrong, very wrong.

Really? How do you do it?

I have Roxio Jam and Roxio Toast for Mac and I don't know how to accomplish that feat... maybe it is because I haven't read the manuals. smile

I have done it as well using a friend's software on his computer. It is an absolute pain. It took me like two hours to do it. I wish that one day Lovesexy will be remastered and tracked.

heres what i did for the audio shows:
1. save the entire disc as a wav file on your had...using musicmatch jukebox or another audio extractor
2. obtain a cue sheet (song timings) or go to www.cdwave.com and get the software. with this u can listen to any wave and simply click wher a song should be split. no cue sheet needed!
3. after this is done you will have ...8 or 9 (sorry i forget) tracks on your hdd.
4. burn em all with a regular burning software and enjoy!

My copy of Lovesexy is tracked. Picked it up cheap in a second-hand CD store in Dublin. I'd say you can get one cheaply on eBay.

...As far as I know, when new pressings were made of the album like 5 or 6 years ago it was perfectly tracked. Mine is an older one, so there are no tracks (just one, that's it). I knew of some folks who ordered the Japanese edition a few years ago, as apparently the thing was always tracked there. ...The thing now is: how to tell apart an "old" Lovesexy release from a new, tracked one ??? I assume the catalogue number didn't change, but anyone could confirm it please ?

AmoebaOfDoom

I've got the tracked & untracked versions.
There is no real way to tell them apart,
the tracked version still says
"Songs are in a continuous sequence" on the CD.

The only difference between the two I have is
on the back cover in the top left hand corner
there is the catalogue number.

On the original untracked version this is written in
script-like Lovesexy writing, and says
925 720-2
France WE 851

On the new tracked version this is written in a normal
sans-serif font (like helvetica or arial), and says
7599-25720-2
WE 835

Whether this difference is a reliable way of distinguishing
the two I can't say for certain, but is is the ONLY
difference between the two I've got.

Because it was meant to be experienced as a whole. Like any other conceptual album, like "The Rainbow Children" or The Beatles' "Abbey Road".

The thing is that, 14 years after one just feels like being able to skip this and that and get straight to your favorite song. No problem with my untracked CD anyway, but it's not a comfortable thing to play with actually.

I know...he wanted it heard as a whole..blah blah blah..but TRC and Abbey Road ARE tracked and I know cuz I have them both. Plus Abbey Road isn't a concept album. It's just a bunch of songs all running 2gether (not that it's bad but that's what they said it was...)

I just hate 2 b forced 2 listen 2 the whole thing over again if my hand hits the button by accident. (DAMN!)

Bart sez:

Why come here and bother us with your question when you could have easily checked any basic search engine like google.

http://groups.google.com/...sic.prince

And before you ask how to use the tool mentioned in the MANY posts listed there, DO ANOTHER SEARCH.

And for you so-called Prince "fan/fams" who can't bother themselves to read the most accurate and detailed biographies and studies of the Prince world titled DanceMusicSexRomance and Days of Wild and Turn it Up 2.0, there are european versions and promo us versions that are tracked. Not as rare as you think. The world IS more than the United States, now, isn't it?

wink Just messing, but make sure to check that link!
