Prince Spaghetti commercial?

I was reading the link Harlepolis left of the 1985 Rolling Stone interview P did and I don't remember a Prince Spaghetti commercial. Can anybody give me details on how it went? He also talked about Billy Crystal spoofing him on SNL singing "I am the world. I am the Children." I didn't watch SNL does anybody remember this?

I remember an early commercial, but Prince wasn't in it. It went something like...now Prince, (with colorful lights and strobes), then it says, not that Prince...and the pasta box comes out. Billy Crystal played Prince a lot on SNL. There were a lot of hilarious skits. John Ritter did an excellent Prince imitation in the movie Stay Tuned.

I don't know about the spaghetti commercial, but I swear I heard the music for 2 the 9's on a kraft dinner commercial about 5 or six years ago...Anyone ever hear this? It was most definitley 2 the 9's or someone playing a riff exactly like it...

I do remember catching that sometime in early 1985 or late 1984.

I do remember flashy stage lights...but wasn't it a can?

I do also somehow remember footage of Prince like in a Baby I'm A Star type performance. From a concert, the movie or an impersonator, I don't remember.

But I do remember that at the end of the commercial the product ( I still remember it as a can) was shown in focus and blurred in the background somekind of Prince perfomance or something...it's all a blur...but I wish I had a VCR att the time.

This could be the rarest of the commercials to find...

I remember this Prince was not amused and he sent a cease and desist letter to Stan I believe of Prince Spaghetti that said please refrain from using my name because they were spoofin Baby I'm A Star without Prince's permission.

speaking of spoofs ... if u ever get a chance 2 watch mad tv re-runs keep your eye out 4 an excellent parody ... it was done in early 90s and is actually really funny because they put prince and other celebrities (who r normally super serious) in contrast, they have Will sasso portraying Steven segul (SP!) Aries as Eddie murphy etc. but the best thing is the guy who acts as prince REALLY RESEMBLES HIM actions n all ...

its enjoyable b/c its so trivial ... if i dont wanna think because its a gloomy day i always pop it in and im on the floor with excitment (yes sometimes its that easy as long as i have my chocolate with me 2) smile I believe the story is; the stars gather at each others' houses 4 a child like sleepover and u c prince playin nintendo and he wont touch the control unless he's princess peach hehe, he also gets lost in a fort hehe and of course they do other little antics but those r highlights im 2 tired 2 go on n on ... oh but i must say the best scene comes when no one pays attention 2 him, he gives everyone the manly diva act lol complete with a trade mark screech ... i am so glad i have that recorded its just one of the beauties of being obsessed with MAD TV and late nights biggrin Classic

How about the british comedian Lenny Henry and how about Eddie Griffith? They did great spoofs on Prince and also from In Living Color.

I believe that was Phil Lamar. He was my favorite. It was doing Prince around the time Emancipation was out and he was sooo serious too. He did Michael Jackson too. That guy is so funny
