Sign 'O The Times vs. For Those Of U On Valium

One is a polished, over-dubbed, theater-ready production while the other is a raw rehearsal (or Prince claimed). The March 21, 1987 performance at First Avenue is the introduction to the SOTT tour band members and 6 tunes from the album plus Kiss and Girls and Boys.

Comparing the two shows is a bit like comparing the First Avenue show which debuted Wendy in '83 to the Syracuse show in '85. But I'll take the First Avenue shows anytime over the official releases.

So what's it gonna be, Sign 'O The Times or the First Avenue show?

Well, if there was a crystal clear, 5.1 surround sound version of Vallium circulating, then I'd definately choose that over SOTT. But as it stands, I'd choose SOTT. Of course, if there was a complete, crystal clear, 5.1 version of Miles At The Park, then that would beat out everything!

Well, quite frankly, I'm a little tired of the mega-pixels, digital zoom, ultra clear right in the face shots that show every pore and wrinkle. I miss the video of old that hid the blemmishes and made everything look like a dream. And 5.1 never got me too excited; just give me 2 track stereo and I'm good.

I might be able to watch that Rave 2000 concert if it were only shot like the old First Avenue shows.
