I've often wondered if he regrets not having had children. When Mayte was pregnant he seemed so excited and eager to be a father and apparently even had a nursery built in anticipation before he even met Mayte. Who knows how the death of their baby affected him, it must have changed him tremendously, even if he didn't show it. I think that becoming a father would be the making of him as he seems to have been searching for something his whole life and maybe that's whats missing. Who knows.
