Graffiti Bridge's main problem is that Prince stuck with it for far too long.
If it had been the follow up to SOTT as originally intended, it would've been done and dusted (the original movie script was equally as goofy though - there's a good chance that if it had come out that way, it could have impacted the album just as negatively as the released movie did). The album went through so many changes and different stages, it just ended up a jumbled mess - there's so many half-baked ideas in there, that the overall effect is of detriment to it's parts. | |
