My Purple Rain review Well, well well... where do we start. "Let's go crazy" is the first track on the album. It's kind off Kiss/Hendrix/Zeppelin inspired. But with Prince's own unique flair. it's a rock anthem and a party anthem all rolled into one unique purple package! it was #1 is the US
"Take me with u" is one of the weaker tracks on the album but it's still 7 out of ten. It's a nice breezy pop song with a catchy hook & chorus and makes u think of the outdoors. "The beautiful ones" is one of Prince's best ballads to date. It's a song about love and above all, jelousy. It starts as a soft ballad and evolves into a screaming rock epic. a tear jerker. "Computer blue" One of Prince's best guitar solos ever. in fact it's one of THE best guitar solos ever. The songs lyrics are a little weak, but it's all about that timeless guitar solo towards the end. A hugely underated song here folks. "Darling nikki" was a seriously controversial song back in the 80's and it sparked the movement of "Parental guidence" stickers. It's another rock song which was covered years later by the "foo fighters". it's good, but not quite great. "When doves cry" The ultimate Prince song?… probably. This song was #1 for 5 weeks in the U.S. and helped keep the “Purple Rain” album at #1 for 24 weeks! This is also an extremely experimental hit. It is a dance track with no bass line! Just a minimalist linn drum beat with a choppy keyboard rhythm and layered vocals. The lyrics are autobiographical and fit Prince’s character perfectly especially in the film “Purple Rain” this song is mentioned in most critics “Best songs ever” lists. it was voted better than Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” in Rollingstone.com’s 500 greatest songs ever list. This song is definatley a classic, one of the greatest songs ever written. "I would die 4 u" Not a rock fan?... this song will probably be more to your tastes. A classic 80's pop song. It does sound very dated nowadays. But it is one "The very best of Prince" and was a rletive hit when it was released as a single in most parts of the world Baby i'm a star A similar kind of song to "I would die 4 u" It was never as sucessfull and was not relleased as a single but in my opinion, it is superior to "I would die for u" it's another 80's synth driven pop tune. It get's seriously funky towards the end and allows matt fink to show off his extrordinary keyboard playing skills. Purple Rain The best way to describe this song is “Just one of those songs…” a true classic. The opening chords are very distinctive and memorable. This is a song that appeals to whites, blacks, young, old, rich and poor… it’s just one of those classic guitar anthems that will never die. It was also the title track to Prince’s most successful album in 1984. The words and music are by Prince and the revolution, and this song shows off Prince’s guitar playing skills to the maximum. Positive review! When Purple Rain came out, my parents wouldn't let me C it because it was rated R. My friends eventually told me about the breast and cookie rubbing in it.
Musically, I love all the songs but the 1's I play over and over are: 1) computer blue - funki ass rhythm 2) the beautiful 1's, because of the reasons sited in this post and 3) let's go crazy - love the rhythmic guitar and the solo @ the end | |

Oh god no! Those songs are shit! Seriously, The Time is so overrated on this site. They mostly sucked. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
