Prince bullying Michael Jackson

hmmm

I'd pay to see that, I think it would've been cool...but its no way in hell the ending of the long version with MJ all up in his face talkng about "Ya doin wrong" would've flown with Prince.

I've been a major MJ fan nearly all my life and i was quite surprised when I actually read that "Bad" was meant to be a duet with Prince.
It wud have been real cool.
But I don't think Prince has ever hated Mike out of jealousy or ego.
He even said he'd like to do a duet with MJ as long as it was "mono on mono" back on the radio in 2004...
Michael is a straight up pop music fanatic. He would do anything to get just one more hit song. A duet with Prince would've added some fire to the pitiful BAD album. The two of them ruled the charts at the time. The song "Sign O" The Times" might've been a good song for both of them to sing. Michael probably would prefer "Girls And Boys". lol lol lol

where and when did he say this? hmmm

I think he said this in the Chris Rock interview that laurarichardson was referring to.

Specifically, when asked about it Prince said,

"you know that wesley snipes character in the video? that was supposed to be me. now you run that picture in your mind. the opening words to the song are "your butt is mine." Now I sure wasn't singing that to him and he damn sure wasn't singing that to me. ...

"michael jackson is cool. if we did do something together, it would have to be mono.. no computers."
Come here, babe.. yeah...

Bad was just the wrong song from them, Just Good Friends however would have been perfect.

Listen Up, We've Got A Problem Here
I Can See The Signs
I Guess The Lady Is Still Making Up Her Mind
Say We're Just Good Friends

I think he meant mono as in:
Monophonic Sound Reproduction. Both audio channels are taken from the tape and mixed together into a single track, using equal amounts of audio channels 1 and 2. Only one channel appears with the clip in Final Cut Pro.

Although it would have been massively successful (probably the most successful duet of all time),I think this collaboration was a bad idea. For one thing, the song "Bad" would have sounded ridiculous as a duet....I guess Prince would be playing the evil guy while Mike would be playing the saint? confuse

Yeah I know what mono is, but why the hell would he want to record in mono? To go extra old school on us?

Your guess is as good as mine, dawg. lol
Maybe he feels like a duet between the two of them would be best served in that kind of setting. Or, maybe he feels pro tools and the like would get in the way of an all natural collaboration. It's a quote from Prince. I've really got no clue. razz

I don't think we need to read too much into it. I think he's exaggerating the fact that he doesn't want to do a duet with a computer programmed with MJ's voice. Gotta be a "fair fight." lol

prince is mentioned in the sleeve (intro) and 3 other times in this book called 'put downs' i picked it up recently, not sure who published it, it's very newly released and it's kinda dictionary like. prince has been quoted about mjs bad song or album. mj named this bad because pathetic wouldn't fit on the sleeve- something much like that

absolutely....michael would die to even have his picture taken next to prince, considering the fact that mj has been photographed along-side every other celeb. prince would never give it to mj, let alone duet, let alone perform together.
