The first time Prince playing bass in concert. Does anybody here on the board have ever witnessed Prince playing bass in live performanceI'm sure you have and Yes,I've seen him play it,early 97 in Philadelphia just after the Emancipation album through the Muisicology tour.Every time I see him he just rips up that instrument.What was earliest time you have seen him play it.I could be wrong but it could have been in 94, the symbol years.Peace! | |

I think u are right about 94 ish...but there is footage (studio) from 89' where he's rockin it.. think playing partyman.. | |

He played the bass at First Avenue Show in '83, and I'm sure he did a few times before that.

At 1st Avenue? But not the one where Purple Rain was recorded, right?
There's a pic from the PR tour where he plays a bass, so that would be the earliest I know of. | |

Oh yeah,prettymasson,I do remember seeing him play bass on Partyman while recording the Batman album.Thanks for refreshing my memory.I think I recall reading a breif article on Prince back in the day saying he picked up a bass somewhwere during the Parade tour.I'm wondering if he played it during the Sign O'The Times period,my favorite Prince era. | |
