Purple Rain/Ziggy Stardust While doing some Prince/Bowie-relation research (i do think they have quite a lot of paralles), I came across a very interesing page, fully dedicated to "the Ziggy Years"; this page deals with the Bowie period from 71-73, and is of course focused to the Ziggy-album.
http://www.5years.com/pur...ardust.htm On this section of the site, a comparsion of Purple Rain and Ziggy Stardust is presented, two albums that marked breakthrough-sucesses for their artists. Indeed, this was very pleasant to read. For everyone of you who likes Bowie (or especially the above mentioned album), this is quite an excellent source. Personally, I have to say that I do not count it among my Bowie faves... Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this page! At least, here is a final statement: [..] Nevertheless, the similarities between these two musical icons cannot be denied. If nothing else, perhaps such comparisons can serve to introduce die-hard fans of one of these men to the parallel universe of the other, perhaps proving that despite the differences between the two, the brilliance of their muse shines with a like-minded radiance.
I like them both on a nearly equal level (maybe preferring Prince by a bit); just a few hours ago i finally discovered Heathen, now to be fully played, with Sign O' The Times as funky companion...

I love this article.
I love looking for connections in music. It's funny because the people that I know in England who are Bowie fans really hate Prince. Maybe there's more simillarities than they realise. Shut up already, damn.

Man, don't be so modest, Chris! I still have that issue. I remember when I first read it years ago, I thought "Now this is the kind of shit that I'm talking about." I've always been the same way, seeing things in duality and in parallels. I show that all the time in my threads and posts on here. So I can more than relate to where u were coming from.
