Emancipation

Okay so I'll say it one more time.....It's not *THAT* bad. Make it 2 discs and it probably be as bigga' hit as SOTT, IMO.

Anyways, as I listen to it, I feel really bad for Prince. You can tell by listening to certain tracks, ie. Let's Have a Baby, that Prince was really putting himself out there. It is him at a really vulnerable state. It's such an ode to his love w/Mayte, Friend Lover Sister Mother Wife, and you can totally tell he was genuinley happy with life in a lot of the tracks. Prince really let his gaurd down with this album, and I believe he was really proud of it, and now you can find it in bargain bins accross America for $5.99.

It is sad, especially when 99% of his die hard fans diss it. Emancipation is to Prince, what a 13 year old girls diary is to her, and he had the balls to publish that shit, I think he should be praised for that alone!

i still dig this cd. although its size can limit spin time. i havent picked out one disc of all three and just played that. i remember my mother liked it so much, she bought a copy, and she never had any of his cds. ive turned her on to newer stuff, but she showed little interest. when it first came out, the music was a smash. thats my 21 cent.

you just stated one of the main reasons why i love this album -- it's Prince out in the open, not trying to be anything else but himself -- i got to know him a little bit during this time, and he was a very cool person -- mayte too

"Emancipation" disc 1 is my favorite of all three disc. I love "White Mansion" and "In this Bed I Scream." Just one question though? Who are the children on the picture inside eek ?

Emancipation is definitly Prince's masterpiece as far as i'm concerned.

Delicate when needed, rough when needed. Pop, funk, soul, electro-funk, techno, trip-hop, jazz, hip-hop, house, acid-jazz, r&b, rock, latin music... everything's in it.

More than that, it's personnal, intimate, inspired... I actually lack the words 2 describe how i feel about this album with which i've now had a 9 years-old love story, with which i've shared some of the most important & intense moments in my life...

I just love it.

I was just listening to disc 2 today actually and loving it. It's amazing how funky it is. And sad in a way too but, then again, Mayte wasn't the brightest woman.

Those are pictures of Prince and Mayte as children. I think it goes along with the whole destiny thing implying that they were born to be together.

cool I liked Emancipation. I think this was Prince's most personal album. He expressed his life & the love he felt for Mayte. It was like him just sitting & having a conversation with you. He really put a lot into this project. I still listen to all 3 disks. It may not seem to others like his best work but i think it was one of his best. music

Aside from SOTT, this is his most enjoyable work of any. I do dig Chocolate Invasion VERY VERY much, but of all the released stuff..Emancipation does NOT deserve the beating that it takes from his "loyal" fans. Has a little bit of all genres of music, for everyone's liking. Take this on a deserted island with you, and you would have all the music you need to keep you "funkin" for your existence!!!!

Album cover is the screen saver on my cell-phone. Symbol with the hands breakin tha chains!!!! So Funky!!!

Peace
