The Black Album. The images I have in my mind about him up all night writing and playing that album (high or not, high or not who knows) and the crazy looks on his face, laying down BoB George's voice all by himself at three in the morning.

That's Why I love the Black Album cover. The cover picture is anything I want to come up with about him, while he's making the album.

I like a few covers, one that sticks out is ATWIAD, Purely because everything in the artwork relates to the album - Also because I didn't notice for quite sometime (In fact until I owned the Gatefold Vinyl that the Mountians in the background make up the form of a woman laid on her back with one leg raised up slightly !!! eek

I think 1999 or Lovesexy win.

Black, SOTT, ATWIAD are my favourites. I also like the lighting on the Parade cover, and the way that when you open it out so you can see the front and back pictures at once his two torso halves meet perfectly into one double-headed figure (try it - you'll see what I mean. Works with the CD booklet too.)

Bingo.

I always thought that image was striking. The way it's turned sideways always seems to catch my eye.

Hmmm hmmm

Well, I like the Lovesexy album cover because it was brave, sassy and bold, Dirty Mind is cool too because it's barren and sleazy as all hell, and 1999's photos made the album seem twice as erotic. But there is one I prefer more than any of these.

My all-time favorite is:

Purple Rain (1984)

© Ed Thrasker Associates

I love the font, the photo just dazzles, and the whole thing just has this real aura or mystique about it and screams: 'I'm here - ignore this at your peril!' I have very fond memories during those 'superstar' years, where bringing home a new vinyl album and pouring over the lyrics, the credits, the photos, and finding all the hidden goodies was just a joy. It's just not the same with a small CD. shrug

So yeah...Purple Rain gets my vote, unconditionally.

I agree. There was something special about opening album covers and enjoying all the unique things inside. CD's will never provide their owners with such joy wink cool wink razz .
