Does It Bother You When Someone Says Prince Is Gay? Should Being Gay Be Considered An INSULT?

Should Fans Have to Say...NO HE Isn'T? As if he Needs to be Defended? Would It Be Terrible If He Was or If a Performer Is Gay?

nope.

Becuase I am absolutely certain that Prince is gay, and that he will eventually come out of the closet.

Being gay would explain his extreme artistic nature, though it wouldn't explain his dress and attire--no self respecting gay man would be cuaght dead in Prince's clothes.

It does bother me when someone says Prince is "gay" because I honestly cannot believe he is gay...The only thing that would even slightly give someone the impression that he is homosexual is the way he used to dress. But Prince has matured and has learned to dress more formally, so what's the argument anymore? Let's see...he releases songs about his relationships with women, he is married, he has dated several beautiful women in the past, he has never been spotted with men in any way that could be considered "gay." So how could anyone think of him as a homosexual. Are they jealous? I mean, what do people get out of calling him "gay"? He is still a great musician, still makes money and is alive and healthy. Degrading Prince does absolutely nothing.

Terrible? It certainly hasn't hurt Elton John, George Michael or Melissa Ethridge. Although it would be a huge shock considering all the beautiful women Prince has dated and the religion he's chosen. But if by a long shot it turned out to be true. People would get over it and still buy his cd's and go to his concerts.

as a pop act, being called gay should be a compliment, it means 13 year old school boys think he's the antithesis of the pop music aimed at their audience - the 'hetero' alpha-male rapper, and being labelled as the opposite of those cookie-cutter dorks is most definately a compliment.

Prince doesn't seem to be very good at hiding what he's thinking. If he was gay, he would have told us.

Being gay is definately not an insult. It's a complement. It takes a very strong minded individual to do what they want sexually and not give a damn if the rest of the world is against them.

I feel pretty sure he is also. Even if he's never been with a man, I bet he would secretly like to.

"Gay" is often used as an insult. It seems that more often than not when someone calls someone "gay" it is not a complment. which leaves statment of fact "Elton John is gay." or as an insult "Elton's John's music is gay."

also given that there are other words for being "gay" that are always insulting. evn if you are gay you should not use the "F" word unless you are comfortable with anyone using it. Much like Aferican Amreicans should not expect white people to not use the "N" word if they use it. There is a theory of law called "community standard." This says that if a given word is generally accepted by a given community (say at a school) then ALL members of that comunity can use that word. This also legaly extends to enforcment. for example if a black teacher calls a black studnet a "N" it should be handled no diffrently than if it was a white teacher.

Exactly. I think the way he dresses, wears his hair, ect is more proof that he isn't gay. If he was trying to cover it up that is, I don't think wearing high heels and make up is the way to go about it.

Also, his music is indicative of how much he loves" women and his real life has been a reflection of that. He's obviously comfortable with his feminine side and not caught up in the way a stereotypical male should look like or behave, which is also evident in his music...

"Tennis shoes and caps, now that's phat
Up until the day another wanna laugh behind your back
Sayin' we all look the same,
God bless america, home of the brave
I'd rather dress 2 make a woman stare
I'm puttin'on somethin' that another won't dare."

I think Prince has always said "make up your own mind about me. Think what you want"

(But that can be hard sometimes if you think people are saying stuff about you etc)

Because that's the only way you can ever be in life.

People will always think this, that and the other about you.

But let them.

As long as YOU know who you are then thats ALL that matters.

Like he says 'Do you believe in YOU?' ..
Shut up already, damn.

That's true, but if the person being called gay turns the tables and takes it as a complement, then it takes the power out of the word and the insulter goes away pissed. I make them even madder by saying..."If you wanted to insult me, you should have called me straight".

it bothers me because some of my friends don´t even care to listen to his music because they think he does "gay music" (specially the falsettos). And they are always making some joking comments when they see a Prince CD on my desk. It wouldn´t happen if I was a Hendrix or Clapton fan...

Anyway, I think he's bi at least. Or, moreso, he exhibits bisexual tendencies. That's just my opinion. Well, after I heard Anna Stesia for the first time I can't figure out if he's singing from the first or third person point of view.

I don't care at all if he's just straight or bi or whatever. The songs about women are there, and I relate to them and love them no matter who he fucks. In my opinion though, he just played up his femininity to confuse people.

But Prince is gay, it's been known for years by other gay bandmembers. Prince turned Wendy and Lisa to it, and Tommy B.
