Well I don't know why for sure but I'll tell you what I think (which I have no insider knowledge just to let you know I'm just telling you my impression) I think Mayte divorced Prince because she got sick of his cheating and controlling ways. I think she got older and realised how much she didn't know who she was at that young age when she first got together with him and realised how much she became kinda his puppet? I think she went from her parents to her husband and wanted to find out who she was. I mean it seems like she never got an opportunity to be on her own and wanted to be her own woman if that makes sense. Just a guess though. I think lots of women who marry young feel this way.
