I'm sure I heard that, in common with other musicians, Prince doesn't listen to a great deal of contemporary music..but perhaps that can be taken with a pinch of salt.
I remember one of the NPG was once quoted as saying that he liked the Cocteau Twins since they were so different.

And of course he's worked with Kate Bush, so it makes you wonder just what he does listen to - very intriguing!
