I received My Lives by Billy Joel for Christmas. It is a box set with tons of demos, outtakes, live tracks, and hard to find tracks. As a big Billy Joel fan I was really impressed with the tracks that were included.

I'm a much bigger Prince fan than Billy Joel. When I started listening to the set, all I could think was how cool it would be if Prince would do something similar. I thought that Billy Joel fans must be really thrilled about the set. Then I went to a newsgroup for Billy Joel. . .

And they were complaining! They couldn't believe the choice of tracks, they thought that other things should be included and they complained about how they already have so many of the tracks. When looking through the tracks, I couldn't see what they were saying, except for a couple of things [I didn't understand the inclusion of only a couple of tracks and I wasn't impressed with the mistakes that were in the liner notes].

And I know that if Prince would do something like this [which would be a dream] many of us, myself included, would probably complain about the choice of tracks, because we know about a lot of the unreleased tracks.

In my naive state, I thought that it was only us Prince fans who would find something to complain about. I guess I was wrong.

It would still be a dream if Prince would release a 4 - 5 disc box set in the style of My Lives. He has already done it with Crystal Ball, but he could release another couple sets and I wouldn't be complaining. . .except about the tracklisting, of course!
