Other than the obvious choices, New Powersoul, NEWS, Xpectation:
Rave Most plastic, soulless thing he's ever done. Gotten worse with time.

For me it's a close call between Graffiti Bridge and Diamonds and Pearls.
It always worried me when my mum bought them for me as Christmas presents.. Shut up already, damn.

- N.E.W.S.
- New Power Soul - Emancipation - Come - The Rainbow Children

Five Worst:
1 - The Vault - a bunch of scraps and he ruined old friend 4 sale 2 - Rainbow Children - a lyrical mess, mean spirited and frequently a musical snorefest 3 - NPS - Prince hits a creative wall. nothing new here, keep moving 4 - Musicology - has the worst 2 prince songs ever on an official album (life of the party and Cinnamon Girl) For # 5 its a 3-way tie: Graffiti Bridge - just hasnt aged well at all. (thieves in the temple and joy in repetition are still quality tracks tho) Rave = some great tracks (I love you..., so far so pleased, tangerine) and, except for the title track. greatest romance and Silly Game, not as bad as its reputation but the general cynism with which he approached this project left a bad taste. Symbol = The whole gun mic, three chains of gold story, Tony M etc...just plain old bad

i like quite a few songs on most anything prince has ever done -- and i really like many of those listed above... but the two that i consistently have a hard time listening to are: Kamasutra & NPS -- but even these aren't horrible

i'm really curious as to how you got to picking The Truth as his worst possible album? i've seen you mention it several times now so it's really quite a solid oppinion of your's isn't it? but why? there is so much to love about this album and it has so many good, solid songs on it. is it because he tinkered with too many "ethereal" sound effects on it when he should have left well enough alone and just made a acoustic album? i'm genuinely curious. or is it just the songs that you don't like? i mean, a song like "Don't Play me" on it's own redeems it from being his worst ever album. perhaps i just can't see it because i rank it among my personal favorite Prince albums. it is certainly in my top 5. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

My top 3 List:
1. Chaos & Disorder - Listen to I Rock Therefore I am...the reggae rap??? 2. NewPowerSoul - Weak, with 3 hidden jams on board 3. Rave - C'mon Prince, if you would have done all the jams LIVE like the Rave versions that kick Ass..this might have been good.

i'm really curious as to how you got to picking The Truth as his worst possible album? Because I hate accoustical or any other type of stripped down music. I hate today's hip hop for the same reason, the instruments are stripped down and only a slow beat remains. With accoustical, only a guitar (and a boring sounding one at that) remains. It also reminds me of folk music which absolutely bores the hell out me. I feel like I'm listening to John Denver instead of Prince. This is the picture I get in my mind when I listen to "The Truth".... Kumbaya my lord....kumbaya....oh lord....kumbaya..... That's far from my type of party. This is my kind of party with plenty of ass shakin'..... . . [Edited 12/27/05 14:45pm] Andy is a four letter word.

Of his proper albums Musicology is by far the worst. If we are going to count everything it would be Kamasutra.

[Edited 12/27/05 14:45pm] You're just not the type of fan Prince as a whole caters to, I guess. He's much more than just an uptempo rock/funk/dance machine. I personally love the stripped down, personal feel of The Truth. I think it's beautiful. I'd say his worst ever album is SNOOZE. No melodies, just meandering band practice sessions. Save for a really nice screeching guitar solo in West, there's nothing worth listening to on the whole damn album. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Lovesexy. No Question. TRC isn't very good either.

For me, its New power soul and don't give me any of that its a NPG album crap, Prince on the cover, Prince in the videos, Prince singing lead. There are some OK songs, but more than half of it makes me cringe

Diamonds and Pearls.
Aside from "Cream," there's not a single song I even remotely like on there. The record sounds flat, yet too busy at the same time. It's by far his weakest work, in my eyes.

Aside from "The One," NPS pretty much sucks. Come on is Okay. Mad sex is okay. However, there are some down right putrid songs on there.

I would have to say the Black Album.
And LoveSexy didn't help 88' much, either. I'd say 88' was a rough year for the Man and his fans.

His fans? His tour and album that year were received quite well by his hardcore fans. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
