Prince Of Paisley Park 7pm ABC2 (Australia) tonight 27 Dec

Australian digital free to air channel ABC2 are showing a documentary on Prince tonight at 7pm.

Prince: Prince Of Paisley Park

7:00pm Tuesday, December 27, 2005

This programme examines how one man's musical vision has revolutionized the contemporary face of popular music.

The doors are opened to Paisley Park; the mythic monument to Prince's musical achievements - and examines it as both an idea and as a creative Mecca. Through interviews with collaborators, friends and music critics, fluidly intercut with concert footage and never-before-seen archive, this programme explores the ways in which Prince has redefined Black American music.

The programme also reveals how Prince reawakened rock and pop's long dormant power to shock, establishing himself as a modern pop icon.

In a couple of hundred years historians may discover that Prince's lyrics were written by Christopher Marlowe.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the UK bbc Omnibus documentary back from around '89 '90 ish - I think that was called the Prince of Paisley park.

If it is, it's quite a cool documentary with lots of unique footage (they may just be following the original tagline description of the program - it was 'never-seen-before' at the time!)

This is the US version of the BBC Omnibus documentary (1991) - aired in 1992 it features some extra live footage and comments from Alan Leeds.

Thanks for clarifying, metalorange and gsh, I was wondering just what this was!

What's the extra live footage not in the UK version?
