Will "Satisfied" be on 3121?

I'm looking forward to the full studio version of Satisfied. From the excerpt, it sounds like it could almost be as good as "Adore." Any thoughts?

Wow, without knowing why I totally agree! It always bugs me; seems to date the song. Even in Adore, he says "U can smash up my ride." -- ride could be a horse and buggy, automobile, bike, or hydro-mobile -- it's timeless. Just compare that to Scan my computer - lookin for a site; w/ the AOL intro. Can't be a classic.

Drives me a little crazy -- but it's kinda amorphous so I pretend he's talkin about two tin-cans linked by some string wink

Yea, this song is as good as Adore. And Sisqo is going to have a comeback world tour that will break pollstar records.

I feel the same way about SOTT when he mentions "turn on the tele". disbelief

He even devoted an entire song "Little Red Corvette" to modern transportation with sexual overtones. ill

I bet you would like the song if the song went something like this.

blah blah blah....
here is the number to my celphone.
call me at (323) 936-0644
and ask for prince.
blah blah blah...
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Regarding references that will be quickly outdated....

I'm looking foward to hearing the full version also. I think it may be more reminisent of "Insatiable" or "On the Couch" than "Adore" though. It sounds as if it's another classic Prince seduction ballad and not watered down like "Call My Name".

The cell phone stuff doesn't bother me too much. By the time it's dated, I'll probably be too old to care. Besides, sometimes when songs have certain lines that are indicative of the time period it can be kinda charming because it takes you back to whatever you were doing then. However, I agree that it can be kinda cheesy at times like "My Computer" with the whole aol thing. It sounds like a conscious attempt was being made to be trendy.

Lord have mercy people. Ride would always mean a car in the African-American community and by this I would hope other communitites will have figured this out.

I don't think cellphones will disappear anytime soon.

I'm sorry but "smash up my ride" doesn't sound timeless to me at all... there's no way I'd associate that as coming from the mouth of someone who owns a horse and buggy, let alone a bike. lol

Even modern references can sound timeless and classy, however. Rufus Wainwright's "Vibrate" is a perfect example.

Wow, I guess it's impossible to portray a sense of humor on a message board huh. Obviously, I don't think adore was referring to a horse and buggy, and obviously I realize certain dialects refer to a "ride" as their car. While I do read Prince.Org, i'm not a complete idiot wink

oh, by the way....when Prince says "mofo" - what is he referring to? I'm just not hip to certain cultures I guess. (i won't even reveal my race wink

omfg

yes! hell yes! i forgot about that one. that's such a great track.

i don't know, perhaps not ALL technology, but it sounds so silly
when Prince sings about "2 way" and "cellphone" etc. perhaps its
because it reduces him to sheer human size or something lol.

and a serious falloff to "smash up my ride" being a horse and
carriage.

can you see her now, smashing up the carriage, swinging from the
doors, chasing the horse with a baseball bat roflmao.

lol Yeah, and I suppose a lot has to do with how you treat it in the song.
I don't really think something like a cell phone is too objectionable, though... not any moreso than using an actual phone number for a song (777-9311).

Now, if he was singing about Rubik's cubes, Forest Gump, etc.... razz

Yup, I can just picture Prince in the middle of a really nasty Jane Austen inspired scene.

What makes you say that boris? Cos of Prince's track record with changing song choices? Why do you think he would have sung it at the concert? Just trying it out?

Sorry to be so inquisitive, you're just one of the few Prince sources i trust.

Yeah, I have to agree with you on this one. It just doesn't flow well in what is aimed at being a ballad. Otherwise, though, I liked what I heard of it at the Vanguard Jam. My guess, though, is that it'll probably end up on Ashley Davis' forthcoming album, along with "You Want Me".
