i have to take back my vote..i misread this thread and thought it was the last prince single that you liked, no the last song that blew you away..

the last song that blew me away was probably "shhh". that was released as a song, right?

everything since then has either been a rehash (call my name, man o war, the one) or a bore (ehhh, same list plus the new single which is cute but just...just there)..

however, Musicology was a nice surprise for me...cause it wasn't a slow r&b groove. besides that the song is cute. but it didnt blow me away. like Alphabet St or 7 did upon first listen..

Shhh was never released as a single. Should've been, though.

It was released as a single, but not by Prince. Tevin Campbell the bathroom bandit released it.

I'd have to say "Musicology." When I first heard it, I was like "now that's Prince!"

Hi all for me it is

A Million Days

Not just for the song, but his explanation in Modern Drummer magazine in which he said that he just played the drum part first without any idea of what would go along with the track. It just came to him as he went.

And this track was done in one day!

I think that any artist that can come up with a good song in one day is amazing!

For anybody out there that can do it, my hat is off to you smile

I think "Sexy MF" floored me. When I first heard it I hated it. I thought he lost his mind. Next thing I knew I was dancing around the room and playing it for all my friends.

Before that, "Gett off".

Usually it's the trax that sound NUTS. Like 'doves', and 'kiss'. Something with a unique sound. He hasn't done that for a long long time.

Hmm, but now that it's been brought up... I was reading Billboard magazine off and on back in the early 90's and Shhh made it on the airplay chart. The thing is, it was long before TGE was released, must have been around the time of Come/The Black album. It stumped me at the time, because I knew nothing of the song. Where were radio stations getting this track and how was it being played on the air enough to show up on the top airplay charts, even just for a week or two?

I think the last single that 'really' wowed me was The One. It's probably the best ballad I'd heard from him since Adore & Scandalous.

I'm with you switta. I really REALLY love Gett Off (and all the fantastic remixes) but Sexy MF is the ultimate Prince single. So nasty and funky. I recently heard the version where he only says 'sexy mutha' for the first time, and that was funky too! you sexy mutha!

Also Great Singles (allright, remixes)
Wish U Heaven parts 1,2 & 3
Thieves In The Temple (remix)
