The Rainbow Children?

The Rainbow Children?

Know now what the journey has been about... and it is a perfect fit... The need of new things... it still exists in his work... All in all prince likes to read perspectives displayed in many ways... but subscribes to none which will stifle his own personal journey... prince is not a Jehovahs Witness in the true since... This is a gospel album through and through... and JW's do not believe in much self expression... they tend to call for unity under the same ideals... And the way they are is... It's the Kingdom Melodies or nothing which are said to be from the book of psalms... and holy music if you will... And some of the lyrics on the new album do not by no means state a belief of the JW or Watchtower mentality... He still is himself... And he still has rebellion in him... because the witnesses always preach about... If your not with us your doomed or dead... And if you don't step in line your at risk of not being in a new world... The title alone "The Rainbow Children" and the call at the end for everyone to come together as one... Contradicts the Jehovahs Witnesses... because they dont think all will be as one... And feel very few will see a new world... and suggest that you keep your distance from this world... as that it is evil... And have less sympathy for the others... As they like too call them ...They literaly think you as dead to god... if you are not one of them... And hold contempt for the ones that have left the church and shun them from being spoken to or even looked at... The Rainbow Children and the all as one message... is less religious or JW... It is pure wonderment this is like Jesus sitting on a rock talking... The level... Its more human more real... One mans desire to understand... noteing that there is nothing wrong with love and maybe in a sensual afterworld we can come together as one... He is still searching for the truth... He is more likely to start his own religion... then mold himself to one... The true human spirit always says i am free and do not let people tell you how to live... Sadly Prince is in need of something too... He is lonely... time echos aside... He needs friends... And is lost to some extent... He will smooth out... As it always is with life's teachings... The lyrics are brilliant... As is the sound... It is a work of genius... The respect of his open mind to ponder and look deeper into things... And ties it up in a bow... So nice it's like silk...

Once you hear TRC songs live you'll really dig them. I haven't stopped listening to it since his concert here last week.

ive listened to it, repeatedly..and heard the songs live..and still has yet to click w/ me...

for me, in order to *really* appreciate music, i have to feel it..there has to be some commonality..and I just cant seem to relate to prince's current music...

but...
ill give it time...its not bad work...i could end up loving it...i didnt even listen to SOTT all the way though upon my first listen..but then i was a teen more interested in buying the latest sperry top siders...

but then, this is coming from a guy who feel in love with NewPowerSoul only to *yack* at it a month later...

I like it. It grew on me. Why, just today while working at the laundry, I put it in, and forced the customers to listen to it.

The Mexicans who come in on Sunday...Prefer Purple Rain though. 'Twas funny, about a month ago, I had When Doves Cry going, and our Mexican customers don't speak much English. Anyhow, the 4 men were all dancing around to When Doves Cry, and one approached me and said, "That?" Anyways, I finally figured out he wanted to know what "that" was. And where he could get a copy. So I had to write down the title, and Prince, and K-Mart. smile

that's right. got my disc just last week and was a bit disappointed after the first listening. but after a while i got the impression it as a very good work, to me one of his best in 10 years. but still i have to figure out the religious theme of the work which is quite unfamiliar for me (i'm a "non-believer").

I remember the first time I heard 'Sign O' The Times' it left me quite cold, and I found the musical experience unsatisfying, to say the least.
"Could this be the same person who came up with the brilliant 'Parade'???" I wondered quite despairingly...

Now I consider SOTT to be a classic.

Something similar happened when I gave both 'Lovesexy' and TRC their first listen. Needless to say, I now love both albums and keep coming back to them, always discovering new things.

I look forward to Prince touring the UK in the near future. I'm very curious to see what the TRC album will sound like live...
