How Much Money... did prince get for signing with universal? How many albums does he have to do? What happened to the big labels treating him lik a slave? Thanks

Probably not much. I honestly think, Prince wanted them more than they wanted him .. He wants to be linked with a big name, especially after what went down with W/B. Also, from what I understand, is'nt his agreement only for distribution only? As far as SLAVE? I think he really had people believing his hype the way he still has some believing it. He was sorry ass broke and found something to complain/sue about

The details of the signing have not been made public. Prince indicated that the deal was for one album only, but some people don't even believe that. It is all speculation at this point.

I thought Universal only handled his publishing deal...no?
and i would assume it would be the same type of deal any other artist would get....publishing is way different then recording contracts... ya? nay? Space for sale...

There are effectively two deals announced in the same week. 1. Distribution deal with Universal At the press conference, Prince indicated that it was a similar deal to that he previously struck with Sony (for 'Musicology'), and for 1 album ('3121') only. That would suggest that he has enetered into a contract with them, whereby they distribute the one-album release. It might well include marketing of the product, and possibly packaging. There's no detail on what financial terms are involved. 2. Renewal of publishing deal with Universal. Prince decided to renew with Univeral who had been administering Prince's publishing rigts for the previous 5 years. Again, there was no financial detail revealed, nor whether it is for a further 5 years or not. . [Edited 12/26/05 7:49am] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
