It's because they are threatened because Prince doesn't adhere to the macho stereotype of the pop world.

He has the ability to look at relationships from both points of view.

He can be silly and playful but also profound and I can't think of many other musicians that can do that.

Back in the day, those comments bugged me ( I was only 10, so you can't really argue gay issues). But now, that stuff does not bother me. Because we know that the man is not gay or bisexual. And even if he came out and gave a 90 minute press conference explaining that he was "gay", it would not bug me. And being gay should not be an insult. Some people may not like it, but that is their problem not the gay persons problem. So being gay is not an insult.

Being called gay is not an insult. It depends on how it was stated. The intention behind saying someone is gay is what matterts, "Gay" just mean that your happy.
