This is one albume I never bought. Could you please tell me more about "prophetic" nature of it. In what way do you see this? Also track listing and song discriptions are cool to read about. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Also track listing and song discriptions are cool to read about. it's not really an album, it's one reeeeeally long performance. no track listings, just "the war". [Edited 12/23/05 13:21pm]

Yea, this was the "coolest" release. I remember coming home from school and seeing a package from Paisley Park in my mailbox. They sent me a copy of the War for FREE and I never even ordered it. (I ordered stuff from 1-800-newfunk so they must've put me on a list). When I heard the song, -- 20minutes in duratino -- i flipped. It starts with a 10+ minute long sermon/poem by Prince to the background of a eerie/metal-funk/drum beat, then suddenly becomes more song-like - "one for me, two for you, forget the lies, not the truth, give me candy, keep the store, gonna need it in the war." -- gives u tingles, he talks about Aids, Big Brother, God, in a way that isn't preaching but actually pretty brilliant. Then, he asks sonny to play his organ - and watch out the funk switch gets turned on, and BAM we hear the most funky, eerie guitar solo I've ever heard of Prince - that goes on and on and on and on -- then finally, it's over and you're like "wow. what did I just hear." Then, the song winds down with an amazing congo/drum solo w/ the chanting of the crowd (that actually sounds good, not like "I like funky music" or "freaks on this side." -- it's a great song that will NEVER get old because it's so fresh and stimulating, not just in thought, but in sound.

// Yep, loved it then, love it now - it was a real beacon of light after Emancipation and NPS. Not prophetic though, I think Prince was just reading the broadsheet newspapers and some alternative/conspiracy literature at the time. Imagine how many fams will proclaim P. the new Nostrodamus when the microchips become more commonplace
