The Lake House is Prince doing some music?

The Lake House is a post-production movie starring Sandra Bullock & Keanu Reeves. The storyline is: A lonely doctor (Bullock) begins exchanging love letters with a frustrated architect (Reeves) through a mysterious letterbox, later discovering they are separated in time by two years. Anyway it says original music by PRINCE on the Internet Movie Database. Does anybody know if this original music will be new Prince material or old Prince material??

Just a rumour, huh? Too bad. I think Prince is just the composer for movie scores.

Based on information that came out of an interview with this film’s director, Alejandro Agresti, it seems almost certain that Prince was at least brought into discussions about writing the original music for this project (not the film score, but original songs).

What still needs to be verified is whether or not Prince ultimately stayed with the project, as there has been no subsequent information leaked since this movie was in pre-production.

The Internet Movie Database -- the greatest source of movie info in the world -- just a few days ago was only reporting Paul M. van Brugge as being a part of the original music for this film (the original score, as reported in an interview with the director).

But sometime just in the last few days Prince has been added to the musical credits of this film (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410297/combined).

That could be pretty significant. But, it’s also possible that they could be relying on the same scant pre-production information we all are.

I think this is a significant story to follow, not just because it would mean new Prince music -- which is inevitable anyway -- but because the director mentioned that it was Warner Bros. that brought Prince to the project.

If this is true, it could certainly suggest the possibility that Prince and Warner Bros. have at least made some progress in their working relationship.

And it certainly wouldn’t surprise me to learn that those mega millions Prince made in 2004 didn’t at least in part inspire Warner Bros. to reach out to one of their most significant artistic assets in hopes of forging a new and better relationship.

No matter how much of a pain in the ass Prince may be, corporations firstly and lastly care about maximizing their profits. And no one is served by the further continuance of this stalemated relationship.

After having a look over there I think it's more than just a rumor. I'm really hopeful because I think IMDB will only report these details when a commitment has been confirmed. If it was tentative it would be noted as such. It says the movie is currently in post production. The only thing to worry about now is how much of the songs will make it through post production and onto the screen and the soundtrack. Does anyone know what happens in post production?

At the very least it looks like we'll have some new Prince by Feb 3, 2006! cool

This sounds like it was inspired by "The Love Letter" starring Campbell Scott and Jennifer Jason Leigh: "Scott Corrigan buys an antique desk and finds a Civil War-era letter inside it, written by a woman who died over a hundred years ago. Fancifully, he writes and mails a reply...only to have it reach its destination in the past."
