I believe if we don't have what we really really want and it don't cost any money, it was never ours to have. And thats nobodys fault but ours.

Interesting pessimistic view. Though a less self-destructive way of looking at that would be that if we don't have what we really, really want and it doesn't cost any money, it just may not be meant for us and that's not anyone's fault!!

THANK YOU for saying that. i was going to say the exact same thing but you beat me to it.

if something we really really want doesn't happen for us, it seems rather arrogant of someone to say that the reason for it not being so is one's own "fault". jeebus. sometimes things merely AREN'T MEANT TO BE in a person's life, despite how much we may try for said want or how much we desire it.

why use such a word as "fault", like a person is automatically to BLAME for something that doesn't happen for them? sometimes, after we give something our best, most complete shot and still it doesn't happen, we just have to finally accept it is not meant to be for us and move on. but it doesn't automatically mean we failed or are to "blame" for it not having happened -- maybe what was meant for us was the learning experience of it all, and not obtaining the end result.

i just agree that "fault" is very misguided word to use in regards to is someone doesn't get, or ever have, something they might dearly want.

So, for instance, I really really want children, a husband the white picket fense BUT, I also want my career and traveling and friends, SO, I hold off "UNTIL" the time is right for ME, but it (children, husband) never happens, whos fault is that?

IF, I was a workaholic and all I wanted to do was make money never missing the opportunity to make that extra buck; I grow old, and to sick to travel, who's fault is that?

SO, obviosly it was NOT meant to be. What was meant to be will be, if not, no sense in looking back and wondering "WHY". With common sense, we would know why!?

there are different circumstances for particular situations. the situations you describe are NOT the kind of situations i was thinking of when i wrote my earlier response.

you are offering up situations wherein, yes, personal choice is a major factor regarding ultimate outcome. so, in some instances, you are essentially correct in 'blaming' a person for what they might not ever achieve or obtain due to the path they chose to follow.

however, i guess i wasn't thinking of instances like that when i wrote my earlier comment. i was thinking of situations wherein a person genuinely makes attempts at something, yet that 'something' never actually happens or materializes for them: i.e. an actor/musician/artist (or any ambition, really) who works very hard to achieve fame or recognition but it just never happens for them; or maybe a woman who wants to conceive or experience childbirth and does all she can to have a child but it never happens (naturally) for her, or due to circumstances beyond her control she realizes having a biological child wouldn't be fair to the potential baby (like if the mother has a genetic disease that she might pass down to her offspring); or someone who has a passion to travel or to be married but, for whatever reason/s in that person's life, these things never happen for them because of extenuating circumstances that preclude them achieving their dream/s.

do you understand the point i am trying to make here? i'm just saying you can't **always** unilaterally lay "blame" on a person for their not having achieved a personal goal or dream; you are proclaiming a very narrow viewpoint if you think a person can control everything in their life and has the power to **always** get what they want or desire if only they make the 'correct choices'.

If you did nothing but assign blame and cry 'woe is me' the fault would be yours, however, if you lived your life to the fullest in spite of obstacles, trials and tribulations, there'd be no fault to assign.

Which is why, it was never meant to be. Whether we really wanted it or not. But many, not saying You or Prince, but MANY ask "WHY". When all along it could have been theirs.
