Prince reveals few details on new album


BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.
"— You sort of wonder why Prince, who has a bad history with big record labels, would sign with the biggest record label of them all.

It's because he could tell them what to do. Prince will release his next album, "3121,'' through Universal Records.

Prince says he got to structure the agreement the way he wanted, as opposed to the other way around. He says he has essentially a handshake deal with just enough signatures to make sure business gets done.

He urges new artists to sit down and have someone explain what everything means before signing anything. Prince is promising a tour but he won't give details, other than to say, "I'm inviting some of my old friends to join us.'' The album comes out early next year."

That being said;I think he lies alot and I think he is a hypocrite.
He says contracts are not good and he don't believe in them. Didn't he say the same thing when he was married to Mayte, yet married Manuella? Then, he turns around and says he don't do contracts but it was just a little signature here and there. What the heck is that? You either do or you don't, there are no in betweens?

I also don't believe there will be a tour. I think he just says this to keep his fans hanging on as he seems to always do. He had them hanging on by the thought that there would be a 2005 Celebrations and something REALLY super special as in 3121 and the new song Te Amo Corazon, but there was nothing special about, well at least Te Amo. Prince already knows what he fans like and what they don't like. After SST, Brand New Orleans and now Te Amo, I don't think he has it anymore. You can't mix being a Jehovahs Witness, playing footies with Hollywood stars, and making music together. It just won't work. He needs to focus more on one or the other and do what ever it is he decides, RIGHT!

Same thing with his music club. Look at that project, it's a bunch of crap. It's more a fan site than it is a music club. And them PPs been hanging around Prince so much they lie like him.

Sorry for the rant, but I guess it's time to just wrap Prince up as a use to be, and just enjoy the OLD music, the beautiful ballads he once made before he became confused with who he is and what he wants. Anyway, I just don't believe anything he has to say anymore. And really, thats okay because one should never expect anything from anybody else, and people change. I just don't like the way he goes about keeping people hanging on.

How long have you been a Prince fan? LOL.He is always contradicting himself,and sometimes not being entirely truthful during interviews/press conferences.You should be used to it by now


With that said,I see no reason why there won't be a tour.His last tour was extremely successful and he would be crazy not to tour again,while he has the mainstream audience's attention.

Prince ALWAYS SPEAKS THE TRUTH!

First off, the symbol came to him in a dream, and he really felt that Prince was dead. But after 7 years (which is the magic number the the space/time warp continuum for earth shattering changes in reality), he can finally be resurrected as the newer, more boring, Prince and finally put the symbol to rest.

This magic space/time warp continuum is also the reason why he can state that music should be free, yet charge 40 bucks for a semi-polished album (Crystal Ball), often double charging Love4OneAnother customers. It’s not that he’s contradicting himself!
It’s that he’s tapped into universal forces that gives him powers we could never imagine.

Oh lord ya'll act like Prince kicked your dog sometimes. Yeah if you follow stuff he's said over the past 20 years you will find him occasionally contradicting himself.

As long as my dog remains un-kicked, what the hell does it matter to me what some rock star thinks about contracts?

This is nothing new. He's always been a hypocrite. That's why I would never believe anything he'd say if he ever wrote a book about himself. This is also why I don't belong to his music club or take any notice of his religious babble. All his talk about contracts was just a bunch of bullshit because he wasn't getting what he wanted from the record company and he was looking for a way out while still being able to keep all the money.

I love Prince as a musician. He's my all time favourite, but that's about all. Most of his talk is pure BS.

when he says "contracts" he only means "multi year deals where the record label owns the masters". The thing is no record label will really offer that kinda deal to him anyway. (EMI, SONY and Arista/BMG are not kicking themselves for not owning their respective releases)

For them these distribution deals are just fine as long as the advance is not too steep and the videos dont cost too much. In fact, these deals are sometimes more profitable and less of a headache for them in the long run.
