With the latin-tinged single, NPGMC photography of the LA nightline, his new residence, and the west coast imagery I can definately see a new influence. I hope Prince's new album and direction is more Michael Mann's "Collateral" and less the "OC." I can envision creative possibilities and directions for Prince's new music. What do you think?

I like it when he uses different studios and writes or records music at different locations. Paisley Park and MN are cool, but a change is as good as a rest.

most of his work in the 80s was done in L.A.

Personally, I'd love to hear him produced by someone else for once, but I don't expect that to happen any time soon.

Prince has to stop "over-producing" himself. I would love to hear a more sparse sound that accentuates his unique gifts (wierd sounds, unique chord changes, brilliant musical mind, strange notes and tones). I really believe that Prince hears himself differently that us. He would probably rank his best work as the most ornate, constructed and beautiful songs of his catalog. I love his dark, introspective, quirky, wierd stuff. Sometimes I wish he hadn't become such a great formal knowledgeable musician and remained the insecure genius trapped in a studio instinctively expressing the brilliant sounds in his head. But I still believe there are more gems to be found.
